    Phonological rules are rules that describe what is possible and what is not possible in the pronunciation in a language. There are two types of rules: obligatory obligator and optional. Different possible forms of a distinct sound can occur in different environment. Aspiration is when you produce a burst of air against your palm when you pronounce voiceless stop sounds. Assimilation is the process which a sound in a word takes some features of the adjacent sound and becomes its own.
