Dear Parishioners: To all our new parishioners whove recently joined us and to all our parish family, welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. School and the rou nes of fall are star ng up. The parish is entering the busy season as all the children return to class. Welcome back to all our wonderful OMMS students, parents and teachers as well as the children, parents and teachers in our Religious Educa on program. If you haven't had the opportunity to register your child for Religious Educa on, please visit our parish website at www.sanluisreyparish.org and click on the Educa on link. Open enrollment for registra on ends September 8th, 2013. I understand there is s ll some room in our parish school as well, so go to www.omms.org for more informa on about our wonderful parish school. Ma Franklin, MSLRP's new Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, has been working full me for a few weeks now. Keep an eye on the announcements as our Youth Ministry gears up for the start of the new year. Ma is extremely excited about "what the Lord has in store" for the youth and young adults of our parish. Some of the oerings Ma is currently working on include:

As you may know, the Feast of San Luis Rey was this past weekend, August 25th. I hope you had an opportunity to par cipate in one of rosaries or Masses. My hear elt thanks to all who made the celebra on of San Luis Rey such a wonderful community event! The par cipa on by the parish was outstanding and the entertainment, food and reworks were spectacular as always. Special thanks goes to Fr. Luis and his hardworking commi ee for making it an evening to remember for the en re parish. Our parish scal year ended in July. Please keep an eye on the parish bulle n because our nancial report will be published soon. Over the summer, we con nued to improve our security around the parish and school. You'll no ce new gates down by McKeon Center and redirected parking that will help address some of our safety concerns. The costs of comple ng the parking lot project behind Serra Center turned out to be much higher than an cipated. The Finance Council con nues to look at op ons on how we can move forward to improve that parking lot. More informa on will be coming when I have it. We Chris an people are people of hope, so I am certain that it will come to frui on. Thank you all for your love and support of the parish and our ministries. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all our ministers and volunteers whose presence here witnesses to Christ's love for all the world. As everybody knows, lay parishioners working together truly bring the light of Christ to all who come to MSLRP. Let us all con nue to pray for each other, our parish and our country. God bless,

A weekly youth group mee ng SLR YOUTH. These will be hosted a er the 5pm mass every Sunday in the Teen Center from 6:30-8:30pm. All high school students are welcome to a end. A new, mid-week bible study tled: "Refuel." These will take place from 7-9 pm every Wednesday in the Teen Center. This will be a me for fellowship/praise and worship as well as a me to dive into the gospel of the upcoming Sunday liturgy.

Ma 's main goals are to build a greater sense of community between the youth of our parish as well as empower them to be ac ve in their faith and in the faith life of our parish. Ma 's hope is that the young people of this church will become condent in their rela onship with Jesus, so much so that they would be willing to live out their faith beyond the walls of this parish - becoming true disciples. Join me with prayers and support to Ma and his Youth Ministry team, that they ourish in the opportunies that this new year will bring and they grow in faith and thrive in the love of Christ.

Day of Prayer with the topic of: Discernment What does it mean to discern? How do I know Gods will? Pat Julian, Director of Retreats & Programs & Spiritual Director. First Communion preparation may begin in the second grade; the preparation for the Sacrament is a two year process. A copy of the childs Baptism Certificate is required. You may register your child the following ways: Fill out forms located in the Parish Office. Print out forms from our website, and then mail them to the Parish Office with your payment. Paperless On Line Registration with Q-Pay at sanluisreyparish.org Tuition for each student is $55. Full payment of tuition is requested at the time of registration, if possible.

PRE-CONFIRMATION & CONFIRMATION

Eligibility: To enroll a student for Confirmation they must have been attending a Catholic Formation program or Catholic High School within the last two years and are at least 15 years of age by June 30, 2014. Any young person not eligible to enroll at this time is directed to enroll in the Pre-Confirmation program in order to be eligible for classes the following year. The fee for Pre-Confirmation is $55. The Registration fee for Confirmation is $150.00, which includes the cost of workshops and the Confirmation Retreat. Registration for all programs closes on September 8th. A todos los feligreses nuevos que recientemente se unieron a nosotros y a toda nuestra familia parroquial, bienvenidos! Espero que todos hayan tenido un maravilloso verano. La escuela y la ru na del otoo ha iniciado. La parroquia est entrando en la temporada alta al regresar los nios a clases. Le damos la bienvenida a todos nuestros maravillosos estudiantes de la Escuela Montessori, paps y maestros as como a los nios de nuestro Programa de Educacin Religiosa, paps y maestros. Si an no han tenido la oportunidad de inscribir a sus hijos para Educacin Religiosa, pueden ir a nuestro web a www.sanluisreyparish.org Las inscripciones terminan el domingo, 8 de sep embre del 2013. Ma Franklin, el Director nuevo del Ministerio de Jvenes y Jvenes Adultos de la PMSLR, ya est trabajando empo completo. Estn pendientes de los avisos mientras nuestro ministerio de jvenes pone en marcha el inicio del nuevo ao. Ma est extremadamente emocionado de lo que el Seor ene para los jvenes y jvenes adultos de nuestra parroquia. Alguna de las cosas en que Ma est trabajando incluyen:

La par cipacin de la parroquia fue excepcional y el entretenimiento, comida y fuegos ar ciales estuvieron espectaculares como siempre. Un agradecimiento especial a Padre Luis y a su comit por una noche que ser recordada por toda la parroquia. Nuestro ao scal de la parroquia termin en julio. Estn pendientes del bole n porque nuestro reporte nanciero se publicar pronto. Durante el verano, hemos con nuado en mejorar nuestra seguridad alrededor de la parroquia y escuela. Ustedes notaran canceles nuevos junto al Centro McKeon y un estacionamiento redirigido que ayudar con algunas de nuestras preocupaciones de seguridad. El costo de completar el proyecto del estacionamiento detrs del Centro Serra result ser mucho mayor de lo an cipado. El Consejo de Finanzas con nua buscando opciones de cmo podemos avanzar para mejorar ese estacionamiento. Les dar ms informacin cuando la tenga. Nosotros como gente Cris ana somos gente de esperanza, as que estoy seguro que se llevar a cabo. Gracias a todos por su amor y apoyo a la parroquia y a sus ministerios. Quiero tomar esta oportunidad para agradecerle a todos nuestros ministros y voluntarios, cuya presencia es un tes monio del amor de Cristo para todo el mundo. Como todos saben, los feligreses laicos trabajando juntos realmente traen la luz de Cristo a todos los que vienen a la PMSLR. Una reunin semanal JVENES DE SLR. Estas sern cada

domingo despus de la Misa de 5pm en el Centro de Jvenes de 6:30 p.m. a 8:30 p.m. Todos los estudiantes en grados de preparatoria son bienvenidos. Un estudio de Biblia entre semana tulado: Refuel (renovar) el cual tomar lugar los mircoles de 7:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. en el Centro de Jvenes. ste ser un empo de compaerismo, alabanza y adoracin as como un empo para entrar en el Evangelio de la siguiente semana. Los obje vos principales de Ma son crear un mayor sen do de comunidad entre los jvenes de nuestra parroquia as como darles la oportunidad de ser ac vos en su fe y en la vida de fe de nuestra parroquia. El deseo de Ma es que la gente joven de esta iglesia tenga conanza en su relacin con Jess, tanto como para estar dispuestos de vivir su fe ms all de las paredes de esta parroquia - de conver rse en verdaderos discpulos de Jess. Unmonos en oracin y en apoyo a Ma y a su equipo del Ministerio de Jvenes, para que orezcan en las oportunidades que este ao les traiga, que crezcan en su fe y se desarrollen en el amor de Cristo. Como ustedes saben, la Fiesta de San Luis Rey fue el pasado n de semana, el cual celebramos el viernes, 23 de agosto. Yo espero que hayan tenido la oportunidad de haber par cipado en uno de los rosarios o misas. Mi agradecimiento a todos los que hicieron que la celebracin de San Luis Rey fuera un maravilloso evento de comunidad!

Cada primer mircoles del mes le pedimos, a todos, que por favor recen, por vocaciones al sacerdocio y a la vida religiosa, por hombres y mujeres entre nosotros para que puedan discernir el llamado de Dios hacia Su ministerio. Pueden u lizar la siguiente oracin: Dios amoroso, Tu nos das a cada uno de nosotros un lugar especial en Tu plan de creacin. Bendice a todos los que contribuyen a la vida, la armona y la belleza de nuestro mundo, especialmente los sacerdotes, los diconos, las hermanas religiosas, los hermanos religiosos y los ministros laicos. Inspira a otros a unirse a ellos en los ministerios de la palabra y de los sacramentos en el nombre de Jess. Amn.

INSCRIPCONES PARA EL PROGRAMA DE RICA

Vigsimo Segundo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Ustedes, en cambio, se han acercado a Sin, el monte y la ciudad del Dios viviente. Hebreos 12:22a
RICA es el Rito de Iniciacin Cris ana para Adultos. RICA es la manera que la Iglesia prepara a los adultos no bau zados a que puedan par cipar plenamente de la vida sacramental de la Iglesia. RICA es una Jornada de Fe, un proceso gradual de Iniciacin Cris ana para aquellos Adultos que caliquen: 1. Mayores de 18 aos que no han sido bau zados y quisieran ser recibidos plenamente en la Iglesia Catlica a travs de los sacramentos de Iniciacin. 2. Han sido bau zados en otra comunidad Cris ana y buscan ser parte de la Iglesia Catlica. 3. Han sido bau zados Catlicos de pequeos, pero no han recibido los sacramentos de la Primera Comunin (Eucaris a) o Conrmacin. El proceso inicia cada ao en el otoo y se celebra durante la Vigilia Pascual. Estaremos recibiendo inscripciones el domingo, 25 de agosto y el 1 y el 8 de sep embre despus de la Misa de 12:00 del medioda.
