In February 2006 we
had a preparatory visit
in Stylida with 4
coordinators from
three countries:

Turkey.

The target group was forecasted for 20 individuals
but there were 40 applications.
The interest was so big, so all the applications have
been acceptable
We have all ready 2 meetings and we are
having a seminar with partners on 1-2-12-06
and a seminar on 8-9-12-06
 SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
The environment does not remain static but was, is and will be
connected to the meaning of “ change”
The environmental changes ( geographical, geological, climatological,
etc) led “ homo sapiens” to the creation of myths
These myths are similar in all European nations.
The sciences today, confirm and interpret , with the use of new
technologies ( ratio-dating, examination of specks of pollen, Oxygen
isotopes, etc) the truth of these sayings.
The knowledge of environmental changes
of the past leads to environmental
realization, resulting in a more rational
usage of energy resources
 The Project data :

¾ Climate and geomorphological changes during last

18.000 years before present.
¾ How mythology and history had been influenced of
them.
¾ Their contribution to the now day European
civilisation.
¾ The necessity of all of them, in Environmental
Education.

INTERPRETATION
•There are several interpretations, mainly for
Titanomachy and Gigantomachy.
•A new approach of the Greek Mythology is proposed.
•The main factor should be the physical-geological regime
and its changes in the Saronic Gulf, the Aegean and
circum-Aegean areas.
•Concerning the competition between God-generations, it
should have happened mainly during the time period
between (about) 18.000 and 6.000 years B.P.
•For the competition between the Gods of the 4th
Generation,the time period between (about) 6.000 and
4.000 years B.P.
 Competition between the Olympian Gods
(4th Generation and younger Gods)
• The most
characteristic examples
are the following:
– Zeus against Poseidon
– Poseidon against Apollo Zeus Poseidon
(Delphi and Corithos)
– Poseidon against Athena
(Athens)
– Demeter against Hades.
• This competition:
– different from the Athena-
previous one – it is not a Poseidon

obtain what they call intercultural,keeping our
