AS Unit F361: AS Latin Language

This vocabulary list is required for AS Unit F361: Latin Language. In addition to the words printed in the list, candidates will be expected to be familiar with the following forms: all regular adverbs formed from the listed adjectives; comparative and superlative forms of all listed adjectives and corresponding adverbs; commonly occurring proper nouns of obvious formation (e.g. Romani, Britannia); compound verbs where the prefix does not change the root meaning (thus circumvenio would not be glossed, but circumdo, I surround, would); compound verbs of regular formation using all the common prefixes, including associated consonant and vowel changes, and where the prefix retains its normal meaning; prefixes: in addition to prefixes which retain their normal prepositional meaning, candidates should be familiar with the following usages: a, ab- = 'away', e.g. abeo, I go away con- = 'together', e.g. confero, I bring together, collect in- = 'not', e.g. infelix, unlucky per- = 'thoroughly, very', e.g. persaepe, very often re- = 'back, again', e.g. remitto, I send back. Teachers must check the Accidence and Syntax in Appendix C1 of the OCR GCE Classics Specification. Any vocabulary listed in this Appendix must be known (e.g. cardinal and ordinal numbers). All other words in an unseen will be glossed, unless they have obvious English derivatives (e.g. densus, theatrum).
