We met Lucy and John from Kenton school in London NW8.

Its a mixed comprehensive of about 800 pupils aged between 11 and 16.
1. How old are you and what class are you in? Lucy: Im 14 and Im in class 9B. This school goes from year 7 to year 11. So Im in the third year. 2. And you? John: Were in the same form but were not in the same class this year. Lucy: Thats a shame! 3. What are the school hours? John: We start school at half past eight and finish at half past two, every day from Monday to Friday. It starts when the teacher calls the register to check whos here and whos absent. Lucy: We have six lessons a day. Each period lasts 45 minutes. We have a fifteen-minute break at five to eleven. We can eat and buy things or just hang around and chat. We get off for lunch at quarter to one and have an hour to eat. 4. Do you have lunch at school? John: Yes, I do. I quite like school meals particularly now we have a self service. We have a salad bar, a main course and a selection of desserts. I love jacket potatoes and my favourite pudding is banana mousse. I hate fish days! 5. What subject do you take? Lucy: We all take the same subjects: English, Maths, History, Science, Technology and since a foreign language is compulsory, I take French. We also have P.E (physical education). We also have R.E (Religious Education) which gives us an overview of the main religions.
