LISSA’S STORY
STORY
Lissa was diagnosed in Sept. 2005 at the young
age of 22 with Stage IIIB Breast Cancer. She was a
single mother of a beautiful son, Damian, who was
then 3 years old. Lissa opted for a double radical
mastectomy - she had begun her fight! u For 3
years, our Warrior won many battles but ultimately
the cancer metastasized to her brain and lungs. Our
Lissa passed away November 1, 2008. u Endur-
ing all the pain, radiation, chemotherapy, she never
once complained. She fought bravely, gracefully
– she had so much strength. She was an amazing
woman and mother and always had the most radiant
smile. She touched so many lives. u During her
fight, she was also involved with the American Can-
cer Society, Susan Komen Foundation, Metastatic
Breast Cancer Network and the Young Survivors
Coalition for Breast Cancer Survivors. She also attended
the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by
Breast Cancer in Virginia and another Conference at MD
Anderson in Texas to get updates on new drugs & clinical
trials. She did a national ad for the Sun Program –Pfizer
Oncology. It was a very powerful ad for Clinical Trials
for Metastatic Breast Cancer. u In 2008, Lissa created a
foundation in her name. She had struggled with endless
bills and with the donations and help from so many won-
derful people, she wanted to show her son the importance
of paying it forward to others who need support. God had
given her the gift of time and she chose to use her time in
this way. Her foundation helps young single mothers with
breast cancer with financial aid. u Her family and friends
will continue her Mission, and with your help, grow the
funds to provide help to these mothers with breast cancer.
