1. It preventshomeowners,in housesimproperlyvented,especinllymobilehomes,from
complainingabouthearingbubblingsoundsin theplumbing fixture drainsin their homes.
You asthe installer needto be awareof the internal makeup of theAqua Safeplants. Most
importantly you alsoneedto be awarethat the air generatedby the aerator blower motor
MUST ESCAPE BACK TO ATMOSPIIERE.
The Aqua Safe sewagetreatmentplant in many ways is a scaleddown version of larger township and
municipalitysewagetreafinentplants.It employsanextended aerationactivatedsludgeprocess.Thistypeof
treatmentdependsprimarily upon the useof air that is introducedby passingfrom the blower to four (4) air
lines locatedaroundthe perimeterof the mixing chamber.

OPERATION, REPAIR AND TROI,JBLE SEOOTING INSTRUCTIONS
previous sectionsin this manualhave coveredthe Ecological Tanks, Inc. Aqua Safe systemsfunctions,
specificationsanddesign,properinstallationprocedure,startup,ownercareandoperationinstructions.If at this
point you arenot totally familiar with the materialalreadycovered, you would do well to readit again.
pleasepay particular attention to the precedingsection titled "Owner MaintenanceCare and Operation
lns6uctions,'.This sectioncoven informationcritical to the plantsproperloadingand function' You will find
"Aqua SafeHomeownersManual". Your
that this sameinformation is listed in the Ecological Tanks, lnc.,
assgranceof the homeownersreceiptof their manualand explanationof its contentsis, in our opinion, most
critical to the plantsproperoperation.
"Aqua SafeInitial ServicePolicy". It coversinformation
Find in the following sectionsof this manualthe
requiredof you ,. " -aint"o*.. provider,in orderfor you to provideservicein compliancewith ANSI/NSF
Standard40.Additionally, moststateshaveaddedto therequirementsof this policy. You mustknow andadhere
to all otherregulatoryagencyrequirementsconcemingmechanicalplant service/maintenance standards.
Lets cover a routine maintenanceservicecall. First checkthe systemscontrol panel for any alarm or failure
indication.Checkpanelto insureproperincomingpower.Next moveto aeratorsimply to insureit is running
and then move directly to the treatrnentplant for an effluent quality inspectionas outlined in servicepolicy
section. At this point pay particularattentionto odorsyou noticeat theplant (or pumptank ifapplicable). You
may noticeanearthysmellwhich is nothingmore thancarbonmonoxidegasemittedby the aerobicbacteriain
theplant.Theremay bea sweetsmell or no smell at all andthat'sgood.Shouldyou experiencea foul rottenegg
odor, somethingis wrong. While at the plant checksystemfor bubblingnoisein the plant.
Cleanor replaceaeratorair filter at this time. If you experienceda rottenegg odor whenat theplant andheard
little or no bubbling, now finding a cloggedor extremelydirty air frlter may be your problem.Turn on aerator
at this time and checkfor any air leak betweenaeratorand 3/4" Sch.40 p.v.c. air piping. If a leak is detected,
effect repair.
Shouldyour maintenancepolicy requirea samplingof the final effluenton this visit, we recommendthesample
be takenfrom a fresh flow out of the dischargepipe nearor immediatelyfollowing the plant. If a samplefor
chlorineresidualis requiredtakeit directly from the chlorinationtank.Rememberif you'vehadno flow on the
systemfor severalhours, you will get little or no chlorine residual.
