This now in the form of an open letter to, perhaps, open other venues of understanding where others have failed. It may, perhaps, be generous to consider that after a millennium of servitude, subjection and various forms of humiliation that a short period of so-called independence and a democracy of sorts might not have been long enough. What Maltas quick return to servitude, a variable obedience at best and its total rejection of responsibility, self-confidence and courage is hardly balanced out by the coalition of business and government in imposing upon its present-day residents the form of social and intellectual obedience and discipline it vaguely remembers having been their lot under the French, German, English, Spanish, and Norman and if there is one thing noteworthy in this regard about the Maltese social behaviour is the mannerism s of a theoretical social elite in third-rate melodramas. Consequently, and very regrettably, the good, the bad, the real and the unreal, everything comes off as fraudulent and some from elsewhere do feel that living in Malta is like a sojourn in Wonderland. Sense, seems, no where to be found. Kind Regards, Walter Babin If I understand well your article is stricly related to USA in 1970. Do you have observations regarding, for instance, Europe's situation in XXI century? My impression for Italy 2009, is that the situation is even worse than that you describe, with no attention at all for teachers artistic formation programs. Moreover art school in the majority of cases is the last borderline for difficult students. The art system is holded by galeries and critics whose only interest is money, irrespective of artist skills and aestetic values of artistic works. Thank you for your attention.

As someone recently observed to me the SIGNIFICANCE (of the lie) gets lost in the deception. The liar believes the lie. and consequently does not know hes lying because he is supported by the majority in his environment. The participants may not be aware of their roles in this process, but certainly the social architects are. Unless perhaps they too have become slightly confused and end up in a somewhat similar condition from the tradition passed along to them by the original architects.
