For my dissertation on Effect of Politics on the Economies of Eastern Europe I analysed and interpreted information from a wide range of sources including the Internet, libraries and museum archives. Our team was awarded the 2013 local authority prize for the best contribution to Market Research. I developed my analytical, organisation and team working skills. This was a temporary post. Summer 2012: Volunteer (Communications): Amnesty International UK, Brighton Organised a publicity campaign to recruit new members. I co-ordinated local events and used desktop publishing to write and produce publicity material. I also contributed to the blog. Increased membership by 10%. October 2011 February 2012: Volunteer: Childline (evenings and weekends) Answering calls to Childline. I identified a problem where calls were going unanswered; I introduced a new triage system which resulted in an increase in calls being taken and improved co ordination within the team. Demonstrated tact, active listening and problem solving and was commended by my supervisor. Summer 2010: Activity Instructor, PGL, Southampton. Instructed and led groups of up to eight children (aged 9 12) on a range of activities such as abseiling, fencing and canoeing. Organised evening events and provided pastoral care. Effective communication, working as a team, and a flexible approach were essential here. May 2007 - August 2009: Check-Out Operator: Tesco, Leeds (part-time) Developed numeracy and customer service skills. Organised the weekend rota and dealt calmly with unexpected changes. Responsible for training new weekend staff. Interests and Activities Vice-captain University Womens Football Team: Organised venues and fixtures for three teams as well as playing in the First XL. Karate Active member of the university karate club. I have recently been awarded a yellow belt.
