Jockey pump panel is provided for the operation of jockey pumps (Main & Stand by). In the event of leakage or opening of Hydrant Valve / Deluge Valve in fire water pipe line; will cause pressure drop in the fire water pipe line; when it reaches to pre set value it will be sensed by the pressure switches mounted on the water header and will give command to start Jockey pumps through hard wired interlocking. When the pressure reaches to its predetermined value the pump will be stopped automatically. The brief operation of Jockey pump panel can be known from following. Jockey Pump Panel is basically consisting following main components. Incoming Switch Fuse Units Power Contactors Over Load Relays Aux. Contactors On Delay Timer Selector Switches etc.

Current measuring and voltage measuring circuits are provided for the measurement of current and voltage. The main accessories used for the same is CT, Ammeter, Volt Meter, Control Fuses (CF1, CF2 & CF3), Indication Lamps (R-Y-B), Volt Meter Selector Switch, Ampere Meter Selector Switch etc. Control supply for the panel is 230 VAC which is derived from ACDB. Please refer to the control circuit diagram for jockey pump 1 and jockey pump 2. Control supply i.e. 230 VAC is available at terminals X1 and X2 from the supply is tapped through CF1 for the purpose of illumination and panel space heater. One power socket of 10-Amp is also provided for the maintenance purpose. Panel space heater circuit is consisting of Toggle Switch, thermostat, and space heater of 40 Watt. Illumination circuit is consisting of Door Switch (Limit Switch) and Illumination lamp. Further control supply will be tapped through CS -1 (2 Pole, ON-OFF).

Selector Switch SS 1 is provided for the selection purpose of Jockey Pumps (Main & Stand By). Pressure switch PS3 and PS4 are used for the auto operation pumps both pressure switches are set at different pressure ratings. This selector switch (04 Pole, 2 Way & OFF) enable us to select the pumps. Pressure switches are connected across the terminals of selector switch and pumps. For Example the normal system pressure is 08 Kg/Cm2 and Pressure Switch PS3 is set at 7 kg/cm2 and Pressure Switch PS4 is set at 06 Kg/cm2. Now if the Selector switch is kept in position 01. Jockey pump 1 will be main and Jockey Pump 2 will be stand by. In the event of leakage in line, pressure will drop to 07 Kg/ Cm2 and Jockey Pump 1 will start first if due to some reason if the jockey pump 1 does not starts and pressure further drops to 6 Kg/Cm2 it will start the Jockey Pump 2. Similarly when Switch is kept in Position 2; Jockey Pump 2 becomes Main and Jockey Pump 1 will be Stand by. In the event of leakage in line, pressure will drop to 7 Kg/Cm2 it will start Jockey pump 2 first and due to some reasons if the jockey pump - 2 does not start pressure will further drop to 06 Kg/Cm2 it will start Jockey Pump 01. o o Control supply is taken in series through NC contact of Over Load Relay and Stop (NC Type) push button. So that the contactor will be cut-off in the event of overload or by Manual stop Auto Off Manual selector switch is provided for the selection of the mode of operation. In manual mode pump can be started through Push Buttons (Normally Open) In Auto Mode pressure drop will be sensed by pressure switch and the normally open contact of pressure switch will become normally closed type which will start 2C/3C (Power Contactor), ON delay timer & Indication Lamp (Pump ON). Interlocking (normally closed type) is taken from HVWs/Hydrant pump panel 1d2 and Diesel Engine Control Panel 1C7-5 so that in case of operation of HVWs/Hydrant or Diesel Engine driven pump jockey pump will be stopped automatically. Pump OFF Indication is taken from normally closed contact of 2C/3C.

Pump TRIP indication is taken from normally open contact of overload relay. On delay timer 2T1 & 3T1 is also provided in the circuit for getting the feedback of pump running and pump fails to start and the same will be transmitted to Annunciation Panels.
