What youll need To make the set of 5 coasters Moda Vera PURE WOOL 8ply, 1 x 50g ball each Mid brown (colour 3064), Cream (colour 3050), Green (colour 3061), Red (colour 3076), Dark brown (colour 3077) 4.00mm crochet hook Scissors, yarn needle Hobby fill Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce different results. Abbreviations ch = chain; dc = double crochet; inc = increase, increasing; incl = inclusive; lp = loop; rep = repeat; rem = remain/ ing; Rnd = round; sp/s = space/s; sl st = slip stitch; st/s = stitch/es; tog = together; tr = treble; yoh = yarn over hook.

Using 4.00mm hook, make 2ch. Rnd 1: 6dc in 2nd ch from hook, join to the first dc with a sl st. Rnd 2: 1ch, 2dc in same place as sl st, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st in first dc 12 dc. Rnd 3: 1ch, 1dc in same place as sl st, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, rep from * to end, sl st in first dc 18 dc. BASIC ARM/LEG
Note When changing colour, use new colour to work final lp of last st in old colour. If changing colour for Arm/Leg, work over the thread of the Basic Coaster Body colour, in order to pick it up to complete the round later. Row 1: 6dc in dc as placed in 9th round, 1ch, turn. Row 2: 2dc in each dc, 1ch, turn 12 dc. Row 3: (Dec) 6 times, 1ch 6 sts. Row 4: (Dec) 3 times 3 sts. Using dark brown and French knots, embroider eyes. Using red and straight st, embroider mouth. Tie a length of green yarn around neck in a bow.

Head Work rows 1 to 3 incl as given for Basic Head in mid brown. Row 4 (nose): Work 11dc. Using red, 1dc into each of next 2 dc, 1ch, turn, Dec working into front lps only, 1ch, turn, 1dc back on row. Using mid brown, 1dc in each dc to end, 1ch. Using cream, cont with Rnd 9 of Basic Coaster Body, working 2dc in place of legs, and another stick arm in place of 4th arm/leg. Head Work rows 1 to 3 incl as given for Basic Head. Row 4 (nose): Work 11dc. Using red, 1dc in next dc, 5ch, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, then into each ch back to head, 1dc. Using cream, 1dc in each dc to end, 1ch. Row 5: 1dc in each st (ensuring nose is on the right side), 1ch 24 dc. Work rows 6 and 7 of Basic Head, then row 7 again 12 sts. Folding head in half lengthwise with wrong sides tog, sl st or sew ends of rows tog, stuffing lightly if desired before fastening off. Hat Using dark brown, make 2ch. Rnd 1: 6dc in 2nd ch from hook, join to the first dc with sl st. Rnd 2: 3ch, 1tr in same place as sl st, 2tr in each dc to end, sl st in 3rd ch at beg 12 sts. Rnd 3: 3ch, 1tr in the back lps only of each st, sl st in 3rd ch at beg. Rnd 4: 3ch, 1tr in each st, sl st in 3rd ch at beg. Head Work rows 1 to 5 incl as given for Basic Head in mid brown, then cont as folls: Row 6: (Dec) 3 times, work first ear as folls: * 1dc in back lp of each of next 2 sts, 1ch, turn, 1dc in each of these 2 sts, 1ch, turn, Dec, 1ch, turn, sl st into side of sts back to head, * (Dec) 4 times, make second ear working from * to * (Dec) 3 times, 1ch, turn. Row 7: 1dc in each st (working into missed lps of previous row behind ears), 1ch 14 dc. Change to green. Row 8: 1dc in each dc, 1ch 14 dc. Change to red. Row 9: 1dc in each dc, 1ch 14 dc. Row 10: (Dec) 7 times, 1ch 7 sts. Change to green.

REINDEER
