Hardware structure
ZXWN EIR hardware consists of four parts: front end rack (signalling processor, service processing MP), user database server, provisioning subsystem and operation & maintenance subsystem (OMM, including client and server), adopts modularized design. To ensure the high reliability of core processing modules, the internal of the whole system consists of two independent networks. The front end racks make a core service processing network Ethernet1; front end racks, user database server and OMM build another network Ethernet2. Ethernet2 links to external LAN via router to connect to remote acceptance system, the remote acceptance system can be devices from third party.
Front end rack is based on the unified V3 all IP hardware platform of ZXWN product series. User database server adopts high grade commercial server, depends on the number of user need be supported. The multi-levels and modularized design of the system allow the whole system is easy to install, and can be expanded smoothly.
2.3
Software structure
The software system of ZXWN EIR follows the criterion of software engineering strictly, adopts hierarchical structure, modularized design idea and distributed architecture. The whole system is composed of a series of functional sub-systems, they are independent from each other, and communicate inside system by messages. Each subsystem can further be divided into multiple functional modules. The ZXWN EIR software system includes operation supporting subsystem, No.7 signalling processing subsystem, service processing subsystem, database subsystem, provisioning subsystem and O&M subsystem. Subsystems exchange information by messages and function invoking. Signalling subsystem, service processing subsystem and database subsystem have message distribution module, used to realize multi-module structure, so the system can be expanded smoothly by module overlapping. The software structure of ZXWN EIR system is shown in figure 3:

Support subsystem
Operation supporting support subsystem locates up on real-time OS VxWorks, provides development platform and uniform operation interface for upper layer services. The applications work on upper layer neednt care about the structure of hardware platform and OS. Operation supporting subsystem provides following functions: Signalling subsystem sends and receives No.7 signalling message, or IP/SIGTRAN message, exchanges information with service processing subsystem, provides signalling transmission function for ZXWN EIR system.
The service processing unit of ZXWN EIR is the core part of the whole system, fulfills MAP service processing. Service processing function includes check IMEI service. Database subsystem includes physical database and memory database, physical database is realized by install commercial database on commercial server, memory database can resident on the SMP board in front end. Physical database realizes the permanent and reliable storage of IMEI information. ZXWN EIR provides data backup function and configuration information upload function. Memory database provides rapid data search, modification and deletion functions during service processing, improves the processing speed of service. The modified data in memory database will be synchronize with physical database in real-time. ZXWN EIR provides O&M functions like user data management, data configuration, fault management, diagnosis test, signalling tracing, security management, performance measure, log management, and provides interface with NMS for the whole network system.

Physical structure
The ZXWN EIR cabinet is an international standard 19-inch cabinet, in the dimensions of 2000mm 600mm 800mm (H W D). With the hook and anchor, its dimensions are 2100 600mm 800mm (H W D). The cabinet is light gray. Both sides of the front and back doors are aluminum, and the doors are installed with hinges and have top and bottom lintels. Each cabinet consists of the power distribution plug-in boxes, fan plug-in boxes, 8U standard plug-in boxes, cable plug-in boxes from top down. Each rack has 4 standard 8U plug-in boxes, as figure 4 shows. .
The system power supply is fully distributed. That is, the power modules on the functional boards convert and isolate -48V power supply into/from the power supply needed by this board (such as +5VDC/+3.3VDC/+2.5VDC /1.8 VDC).The -48V power supply of the rack is input from the power distributing module (PDM) on the top of the rack, where there is an EMC filter, a circuit breaker for the general power supply and circuit breakers for plug-in boxes. The PDM provides -48 power supply for the four 8U plug-in boxes and two fan plug-in boxes through independent -48V busbars. The system has a -48V ground line, a working ground line and a protection ground line, which are connected to the plug-in boxes though busbars. The -48V ground line and the working ground line are set separately to reduce their mutual interference. For a single-rack system, the 3 ground lines join outside the rack and then ground together. For a multi-rack system, the 3 ground lines of each rack are connected separately, join at the remote end and then ground together
The signals between the plug-in boxes are usually connected through electrical port with isolation function, to avoid any influence to the ground-toground signal.

Boards and parts must satisfy Grade B requirements of ESD air discharge 8KV and touch discharge 6KV. To satisfy the requirements, the following measures should be taken in addition to overlapping and screening: 1 Grounding points should be plenty and well distributed. They are well distributed on the in-board sockets. 2 Components (except indicators and switches) should be kept at a proper distance from the panel (>10mm), away from panel edge. 3 Holes for indicators and switches should be of proper size and there should be no excessive gap. 4 There is no wire alongside the panel edge. Any wire (except the indicator wire) should be at least 5~10mm away from the panel edge. 5 The clock cable runs inside, not on the top or the bottom and should be as short as possible. 6 The devices to be used should be of high ESD protection level. Normally the ESD of a device should be at least 2000V. 7 The grounding wire layer should be larger than the boundary of the wires and components. At the panel side, the grounding wires should be installed with at least 5mm spacing. 8 Wires on the backplane should undergo crosstalk emulation. Signal lines of high working frequency should be suppressed and shielded as necessary. 9 Boards and parts should bear anti-static labels.
3.2.2
Simplification design
For the purpose of reliability, the system is designed in the following principles: Simplifying the system structure and board circuits, reducing the quantity of devices on the board, specifying uniform board signal definitions and implementing uniform backplane design so that relevant function boards can be reused and mixed. Reuse function and compatibility are fully recognized. For example, multiple function boards are integrated into one board and circuits of the same functions are integrated into one standard circuit. means the compatibility inside this system and with other products. Units and modules of the systems are designed according to relevant industry standards.
3.2.3
Redundancy design
Redundancy design of the system is done for signalling and controlling. Almost all boards are work in active/standby mode, as SMP,, CLKG, UIM, or work in load sharing mode, as SPB, SIPI. The signaling control boards and service processing boards send "Heartbeat" signals to each other through the Ethernet to detect the status of the other. The changeover follows the active/standby changeover mechanism of the system. The active and standby boards can not be online/offline at the same time and their data are synchronized through the internal Ethernet.

General
Equipment Identity Register EIR is the network entity which manages the IMEI of all mobile stations in PLMN and checks if they are legal. This network entity includes one or more databases storing the IMEI. The mobile stations are divided into white name list, grey name list and black name list. The IMEI of the mobile stations are in their certain name list. Technically it is much easier to wire tapping or cheating for wireless transmission than cable transmission. ZXWN-EIR assures the system security from the following points: By check the IMEI to prevent the mobile handset being peculated. 1 2 A handset in the white name list is legal in the network . A handset in the black name list is forbidden in the network. The main possible reason is that it is stolen or it is illegal. 3 A handset in the grey name list is determined by the operator. The possible reason is that it is injured or not be permitted to use, it is not forbidden but it will be traced by network.
5.2
IMEI storage
IMEI (International Mobile station Equipment Identity) information is stored in ZXWN EIR database, including the black/white/grey list category and the reason. IMEI data shall have the option to be stored in the lists as individual IMEIs or as a range of IMEIs, which have a common TAC and FAC.
17
ZXWN EIR supports both formats of IMEI and IMEISV. The IMEI is composed of the following elements (each element shall consist of decimal digits only): 1 2 Type Allocation Code (TAC). Its length is 8 digits; Serial Number (SNR) is an individual serial number uniquely identifying each equipment within the TAC. Its length is 6 digits; 3 Pare digit: this digit shall be zero, when transmitted by the MS.
The IMEISV (International Mobile station Equipment Identity and Software Version Number) is composed of the following elements (each element shall consist of decimal digits only): 1 2 Type Allocation Code (TAC). Its length is 8 digits; Serial Number (SNR) is an individual serial number uniquely identifying each equipment within each TAC. Its length is 6 digits; 3 Software Version Number (SVN) identifies the software version number of the mobile equipment. Its length is 2 digits.
