In the Table 1 are displayed all GC-MS compounds, with the main following: 1.S. aethiopis essential oil sample: Germacrene D(31.68%),-cariophyllene(24.8%), -copaene(17.1%). 2.S. nemorosa essential oil sample: Sabinene(38.2%), -cariophyllene(19.03%), Germacrene D (18.62%). 3.S.verticillata essential oil sample: Camphene(16.03%),-pinene (15.24%),Sabinene (14.54%).

The antimicrobial activity of all essential oils were assessed qualitatively using Agar diffusion method and Broth micro-dilutions assay. Using agar diffusion method, we noticed very little antimicrobial activity concerning both bacteria, and especialy against E. coli (Fig.2). Regarding the second method, which was used, we can conclude that the MIC was assessed at 0,5 % concentration, for the most of the essential oils (Fig.3).

1. Monoterpene and sesquiterpenes are giving the chemical profile of Salvia essential oils. 2. The essential oils of Salvia species however displayed moderate activity against S. aureus, while negligible activity was obtained against E. coli. 3. The present investigation demonstrates that these essential oils may be effective as bacteriostatic agents against Gram + microorganisms. EDRIS A.
