WHO ARE YOUNG LEARNERS? The term young learners refers to children from the first year of formal schooling (6 years old, in our case) to 12 years of age. As their physical development increases the higher portions of the brain develop, and the child attains increased control over finer muscle movement. By the age of 12, the child will have achieved a level that is almost equal to adult. They are very energetic and for that reason they need activities in which they can be activators. Children in this stage cannot understand abstract words because of their cognitive development, so concrete objects can be effective in order to teach any subject. They start to get the ability of abstract thinking. They are afraid of being isolated by their friends, and also they afraid to have a bad impression from their teachers. Therefore, they need group works and so, they can interact with each other.
