LITERACY

Purpose audience and structures of different types of texts Understand how texts vary in purpose, structure and topic as well as the degree of formality

Creating Texts Plan, draft and publish imaginative, informative and persuasive print and multimodal texts, choosing text structures, language features, images and sound appropriate to purpose and audience. Data representation and interpretation Pose questions and collect categorical or numerical data by observation or survey.

Oral Presentations Plan, rehearse and deliver presentations for defined audiences and purposes incorporating accurate and sequenced content and multimodal elements.

Interpreting, analysing, evaluating Use comprehension strategies to analyse information, integrating and linking ideas from a variety of print and digital sources.

NUMERACY

Location and transformation Use a grid reference system to describe locations. Describe routes using landmarks and directional language.

Data representation and interpretation Construct displays including column graphs, dot plots and tables appropriate for data type with and without the use of digital technologies. Describe and interpret different data sets in context.

Using units of measurement Calculate the perimeter and area of rectangles using familiar metric units. Choose appropriate units of measurement for length, area, volume, capacity and mass.

SCIENCE

Biological Sciences Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment

Questioning and predicting With guidance, pose questions to clarify practical problems or inform a scientific investigation, and predict what the findings of an investigation might be

Planning, conducting and evaluating With guidance, plan appropriate investigation methods to answer questions or solve problems Suggest improvements to the methods used to investigate a question or solve a problem Geospatial skills Students develop skills in gathering information firsthand from fieldwork studies. They make observations, conduct surveys and interviews, map and record phenomena in a range of settings.

Communicating Communicate ideas, explanations and processes in a variety of ways, including multi-modal texts

GEOGRAPHY

Geographical Knowledge and Understanding Ask a series of geographical questions and follow an inquiry based approach incorporating identification, observation, description, analysis, explanation, synthesis and evaluation.

Geographical knowledge and understanding Students recommend ways of protecting environmentally sensitive areas in a sustainable way. They provide examples and evidence based on their inquiries.

Geospatial Skills Students read and interpret maps at different scales. Students apply their understanding of scale (distance) when using maps as sources of information.

ICT

ICT For visualising thinking Students apply known ICT tools for visualising thinking in new ways to make links between existing and new knowledge.

ICT for creating Students use design tools, such as layout diagrams, annotated drawings to document solutions and the layout of information products.

ICT for communicating They develop and maintain a digital bank of evidence (for example and electronic portfolio) that demonstrates their learning. This requires students evaluating, selecting and organising files that showcase their learning.

ICT for communicating Students begin to work in a collaborative global environment. They share their developing knowledge with their peers and consider methods of sharing information with a wider audience.
