Summary of the lecture on the Aqueeda course (04th June 2012)

Description: Description: Description: Description: cid:image001.jpg@01CD3C32.2DEC88C0

We learned the chapter number 24 of the book "Kitab- At -Tawheed"; the summary is as below...The title of chapter 24 is "On Sorcery (As -Sihr) (Magic)".

Sheikh Shamim started by explaining a few point on Magic as below... * As Sihr, the lingual meaning of the Arabic word As Sihr means something which is hidden or an act which is hidden from the eyes and not obvious. * As Sihr in Islamic terms means Magic or the harmful acts done with the help of Magic

* Why has the author mentioned about magic in this book which is focused on Tauheed and Shirk? - It is because Magic cannot be performed by anyone unless he/she does shirk with Allah (subhana wa taala) * Our beloved Prophet Mohammed (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said that the one who has done Magic (As Sihr) has done Shirk with Allah (subhana wa taala) A Magician can never perform the acts of magic without doing Shirk, because to do magic the help of "Jins" and "Shayateen" is taken. The person doing Magic has to listen to the demands of the Jins and Shayateen first then only they help him to do various acts of Magic

* The demands of the Jins and Shayateen are all against the Deen and the Shariyah of the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam), the magician has to do acts of Shirk, do acts of abuse with the Quran like standing on it, urinating on it, standing on it and taking bath with alcohol and throwing the Quran in filthy places like toilets etc.

Allah (subhana wa taala) says in the Quran in Surah Baqarah (2) verse (102)...

Sheikh Shamim explained the above verse as below... * During the time of Prophet Suleiman (as), Beforehand, the devils used to ascend to heaven and eavesdrop on the conversations of the angels about what will occur on the earth regarding death, other incidents or unseen matters. They would convey this news to the soothsayers (fortune tellers), and the soothsayers would in turn convey the news to the people. The people would believe what the soothsayers told them as being true. When the soothsayers trusted the devils, the devils started to lie to them and added other words to the true news that they heard, to the extent of adding seventy false words to each true word. The people recorded these words in some books. Soon after, the Children of Israel said that the Jins know matters of the Unseen. When Suleiman (as) was sent as a Prophet, he collected these books in a box and buried it under his throne; any devil that dared get near the box was burned.

When Suleiman (as) died the Satan materialized in the shape of a human and said to some of the Children of Israel, `should I lead you to a treasure that you will never be able to use up?' They said. `Yes.' He said, `Dig under this throne,' and he went with them and showed them Suleiman (as) throne. They dug and found the buried books, and Satan said to them, `Suleiman only controlled the humans, devils and birds with this magic.' .Thereafter the news that Suleiman (as) was a sorcerer spread among the people, and the Children of Israel adopted these books. Hence Allah's says in the verse that, they followed the Shayateen and Suleiman (as) did not disbelieve, but the Shayateen disbelieved. * Harut and Marut were angels who came down to earth in Babylon (Ancient Iraq) and on them Magic was reveled and the people started learning this magic from them, but the angels never taught the people until they said to them that "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us), but still the people learned this and used this magic and used it for Satanic acts like to put separation between the husband and wife, and did you know that this is the most dearest act of mischief for the Satan to put differences between the husband and wife.

But any magic does not harm any person until there is Allah's permission; the harm caused due to magic cannot take shape until Allah (subhana wa taala) wills.

* The children of Israel had to sell (give in) their Eemaan and Aqeedah to learn this magic, and they knew who buys this magic by selling themselves (their Eemaan) will not have any share of good in the hereafter, in spite of knowing this they still did it.

Further Allah (subhana wa taala) says in the Quran in Surah Nisa (4) verse (51)...

Sheikh Shamim explained the above verse as below... * * The "Yahood" had Eemaan on Jibt and Taghut (explained in last summary) Umar (ra) is reported to have commented on the above verse and he said that "Al-Jibt is Magic and At- Taghut is Shayteen" * * Someone who has Eemaan on Jibt (Magic) has done Kufr and Shirk

Jabir (ra) is reported to have said that "At-Taghut is soothsayers (fortune tellers) upon who the devil alights and every tribe had one".

Abu Hurairah (ra) reported that the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: "Save yourself from seven destroyers." The Companions (ra) asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what are those?" He (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: 1. To associate anything with Allah (subhana wa taala)(Shirk) 2. 3. Sorcery (Magic)

Without any just cause killing a life Allah has forbidden 4. Taking Interest (Riba)

5. 6. 7.

Usurping the wealth of orphans Turning back from the battlefield

Making a false charge (accusation) against the chaste but unmindful women (Bukhari and Muslim)

Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth that the seven destroyers mentioned are Major (Kabira) Sins, Rasool Allah (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) mentioned Sihr (Magic) in the second place to emphasize on its importance, we saw earlier that Sihr (magic) is also one of the types of Shirk or a part of Shirk, and one who does Magic has done Shirk, and Shirk is already mentioned in the first point in this Hadeeth, but to give Sihr (magic) emphasis Rasool Allah (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) mentioned it separately in the second place.

Jundub (ra) narrated the following Hadith, which At-Tirmidhi reported that "The punishment for the sorcerers/magicians is that he /she be struck with the sword (executed)."

In Sahih Al Bukhari, Bajalah bin Abadah narrated that: "Umar bin al Khattab (ra) wrote: execute every sorcerer or sorceress". So Bajalah continued: "We executed three sorcerers"

Hafsah (ra) is reported to have ordered an execution of a slave woman who practiced magic on her and she was executed. Further Sheikh Shamim informed about some more points related to Magic as below...

* What is the main purpose of Sihr (Magic)? Why is it done? The main purpose of any Sihr (magic) is "Hasad" (envy or jealousy), people are envious of others and don't want to see them content pleased and satisfied so out of envy they end up doing Magic and take the help of magicians. * What are the types of Magic? The Types of Magic are two, "Surf" and "Aruf", "Surf" is the type of magic which puts difference in the hearts of people (majorly between Husband and wife), "Aruf" is the type ofmagic which is used to Join hearts or to make someone attracted to someone * How harmful can Magic be? The effects of Magic can cause major and minor harm to the person on whom magic is done, the effects of magic can be long term and short term, and Magic can also be used to take someone's life. * Who is the Major Sinner? Person doing the actual magic (the sorcerer) and the person who appoints the magician to do magic on someone, both are major Sinners.

* Did you know we can identify if the person is a Magician!!! HOW? The identification of a Magician is that he will ask the person's name (on whom magic is to be done) and his/her mother's name too. * Can the harm cause by Magic be cured with Magic? It is not permitted to do the cure of Magic using Magic, the cure of Magic has to be done using the remembrance (Zikr) of Allah, reciting the verses of Quran, and by duas (Cure of Magic will be learned in details in the chapters that follow) * What has to be done with Magicians? Sorcerers or Magicians are disbelievers (kafir) and they

should be executed. * We have hundreds of Sorcerers in our Ummah/Community!!! Sorcerers were found among the Muslims during the period of Umar (ra), so how about now?

That completed the lesson number 24; we didn't have the dua dars this week, Inshallah we will have it in the next lecture (tomorrow).

Inshallah tomorrow we will be continuing with the Tauheed series & the topic for tomorrow will be

"On Soothsayers (fortune tellers) and the like".

Do try to attend Inshallah

We ask for the mercy and forgiveness of Allah (subhana wa taala) in any wrong from our side when writing this summary, and if something was wrong it was only from the writer and from Satan and pray to Allah (subhana wa taala) that he Guides us all to Hear, Say and Act wisely and truly on what we learn.

We learned the chapter number 25 of the book Kitab- AtTawheed; the summary is as belowThe title of chapter 25 is Clarifications of types of Sorcery (Magic).

Further to last week topic concerning Magic, this week also the lesson we learned we concerning Magic and its various types.

The true Sorcery (Magic) Is the one in which the help of Jins and Shayateen is taken and it is considered as a Major Sin and is a type of Shirk with Allah (subhana wa taala) and the punishment in Shariyah for this grave sin in this world is execution. (As learned in the previous chapter)but there are a few more deeds which are also considered as Magic but not as Major as the above and the punishment for such is not execution, but still they are in the category of Magic and a person should always refrain himself from doing or being involved in these acts, such are as explained below by the Hadeeth of the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam)

Hadeeth

Imam Ahmed (Rehmatullah alaih) reported: Muhammed bin Jafar narrated from Auf, from Haiyan bin Al-Ala, from Qatan bin Qabisah, from his father that he heard the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) say: Verily, Al-Iyafah and At-Tarq and At-Tiyarah are Al-Jibt (sorceries/magic).

Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below

Al-Iyafah: -Al-Iyafah is the act of letting birds fly to foretell events -The Arabs had a custom that when they would do something they would want to obtain sometime of Omen (forecast or warning), a sign to know if the act that they were about to do was either good or bad. They would look at the flight patterns of certain birds. If they saw that the birds were flying to the right they would consider this to be a good omen and they would go ahead with the act they were about to do. If they saw the birds flying to their left they would consider this to be an evil omen and they would leave the act they were about to do. The act of obtaining omens from the birds flight patterns (right or left) is called as Al-Iyafah, and our Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) considered this as a type of Magic. At -Tarq: - At-Tarq is the act of drawing lines on the earth/sand to predict events The Arabs would draw certain lines on the sand and then they would erase out certain lines and then with the remaining lines they would obtain omens and predict

the future, this act of prediction of future using lines on sand is called as At- Tarq, and our Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) considered this as a type of Magic. At-Tiyarah: -At-Tiyarah is the act of taking sight on some objects as a bad omen -It Is a general type of Omen. Any omen that a person tries to obtain is called At-Tiyarah; omens are anything through which a person obtains good luck or bad luck.

Example: if a person were to see a black cat cross his path and he feels that he should change the act that he was going to do or feels that the day will be an unfortunate day then this is like seeking an Omen by the crossing of the black cat and is called At-Tiyarah, and our Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) considered this as a type of Magic. The above three types or any similar acts of today in which the persons future is predicted like palm reading, fortunetelling or by seeing some cards etc., are considered as Magic, because they have the same effects on the persons mind, heart, body and actions as the effect of actual magic, people get so influenced with the results of these acts that they comply themselves to do what was advised wrongly by the people performing these acts. Hadeeth

Abu Dawood reported in his book with Sahih Isnad that Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhumaa) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: Whoever learns a part of Astrology (drawing knowledge from stars) has learned a part of sorcery (magic). Those who learn more are getting that much more (sins to their credit).

Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below Astrology is an act/study which uses the movement of stars and other bodies of the universe to derive several information about the persons future and life, the exa mple of such an act is Horoscope, and unfortunately this is wide spread in our times, our beloved Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) categorized this as an act of Magic and instructed the Ummah to abstain from these acts. Hadeeth

In An-Nasai, Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anha) is reported to have said: Whoever tied a knot and blew on it, has committed sorcery and whoever committed sorcery has committed Shirk. Whoever wears an amulet or talisman will be subjected to its control.

Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below

People who tie knots and blow magical spells on the knots and then presume that it will have an effect on the person they tied it for are doing this type of Magic, in todays terms it is also known as Black magic or voodoo magic, this magic obviously has an effect on the

person as it is done with the help of Jins and Shayateen, and who ever does this has done sorcery and sorcery is doing shirk with Allah (subhana wa taala) This is the type of Magic discussed in the previous chapter and its a Major sin and the punishment for this is execution. This type of magic was also done on the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) by a Jew and it affected him (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) as a Human being, When this occurred Allah (subhana wa taala) instructed the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) to recite Surah an-Naas and Surah al-Falaq repeatedly hence these two Surahs are one of the most powerful ways to refute magic. The second part of the Hadeeth speak about people who wear amulets and talismans (Taaveez/Gande), the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) told that such people will be subjected to the control of these things only and Allah (subhana wa taala) will remove his protection blessings and mercy from such people, wearing all these things is doing shirk with Allah (subhana wa taala) the person who wears a Taaveez is doing shirk, May Allah protect and guide us righty by not doing such acts aameen. Why wearing such things is considered as Shirk?...It is because when a person wears such things his/her believe is that this Taaveez or Gande will protect him/her from problems in life and after wearing such things he/she feels that no calamity will befall on him/her and these people no more believe and trust in the protection of Allah (subhana wa taala) they dont ask protection from Allah (subhana wa taala) but from these things!!!! Hadeeth

Ibn Masud (Radi Allahu Anha) is reported to have heard Allahs Messenger (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) saying: Shall I not tell you what Al-Adh is? It is conveying false rumors (Nameemah, Geebat) for the purpose of causing disputes between people. (Muslim) Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below Al-Adh literally means backbiting, tale-bearing, lying (Geebat) and similar things which are done to cause problems/disputes between people and break the relationship between brotherhoods, sisterhood and this cuts off good relations. Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) called these acts as An-Nameemah; AnNameemah is gossiping about other people intending to harm them. An-Nameemah is a type of major sin which unfortunately many sisters and brothers are indulged in, we would go to so and so and say do you know what so and so said about you? even if It is not a lie but by doing so we are breaking the brotherhood, the bond that exists and causing evil to spread.

Nameemah (Geebat/backbiting) is one of the causes for the punishment of the grave, we should stop ourselves from doing this major sin Inshallah, specially sisters are more involved in this and they need to be guided well about Islam, May Allah guide us all righty on the straight path Aameen

Why has the author mentioned about this here? The author is trying to explain that certain types of sins might not fall in the type of real magic but are very similar to magic The reason being that the primary purpose that magic is done or used is to break brotherhood, friendship and relationships and just as black magic breaks ties between good relations, Nameemah and backbiting also does the same and has the same effects and is used to breaks ties and this is a Major Sin.

Hadeeth

Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhumaa) reported that the Messenger of Allah (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: Some eloquence can be (so beautiful that it constitutes) sorcery. *Al -Bukhari] Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below Eloquence or a persons ability of speaking well to impress or deceive others is al so considered as sorcery; just like sorcery can deceive us and make us believe in something which might not be true; similarly a person who is blessed with eloquence might make the falsehood truth and truth as falsehood by his/her impressive and effective talk. Eloquence (talking superfluously) is not magic nor it is shirk but it is considered as a type of magic because it has a similar effect that magic has. Eloquence can be Halal and can be Haram. If a person uses eloquence to convey the truth then it is Halal and if it is used to do something wrong then it is Haram This does not have the same ruling as the actual magic in which the help of Jins and Shayateen is taken, but as it has the similar effects of Magic this has been highlighted here.

In this chapter we learned the different types of acts which are not actual Magic and dont have the same Islamic ruling, but as the effects of these acts is very similar to the effects of magic on a human they are considered as magic and we should keep praying to Allah (subhana wa taala) that he protects us from such acts and guides us all rightly in not being involved in doing any of these acts Aameen

As Salam Alaikum wa Rehmatullah wa Barakatahu Alhumdulillah we Continued with the Tauheed course on the topic of Magic, please see the Summary below of the lecture on the 18th June 2012. Jazakumullahu Khairan Wa Fi Amaan Allah ---------- Forwarded message ---------From: Nadeem Nazeer Ahmed Date: Sun, Jun 24, 2012 at 8:10 AM Subject: Aqeedah Course (Kitab Al Tauheed) - Summary of the lecture on 18th June 2012 To: peace4free@gmail.com As Salam Alaikum WA Rehmatullah WA Barakatahu Summary of the lecture on the Tawheed course (18th June 2012)

We learned the chapter number 26 of the book Kitab- AtTawheed; the summary is as belowThe title of chapter 26 is On Soothsayers (fortunetellers) and the like. Further to last week topic concerning Magic, we continued this chapter which also dealt with magic and was focused on Soothsayers Sheikh started by briefing us with some points as below

What are the different names given to people who practice fortunetelling? Such people are known and called by various names such as

1) Kaahin A Kaahin is a person who claims that he has the knowledge of the unseen, whether it is the future or the past, but they are more well-known for claiming to know the knowledge of the future. 2) Nujoomi (Astrologer) A Nujoomi is a person who claims to have the knowledge of the unseen (past or future) from the study and movements of the stars and other bodies of the universe. 3) Arraf- Arraf is the person who claims to have the knowledge of the unseen but only deals with the past. What is the truth of such people?

A Magician has contacts with Jins and Shayateen and with their help he does the acts of Magic and this is Shirk, hence the Magician is a Mushrik, in the same way the Kaahin (soothsayer) also has contacts with the Jins and Shayateen and they too do Shirk and they are also Mushrik, as without shirk the Jins and Shayateen dont help these people, these

people do shirk and acts of disrespect with the Quran to make the Jins and Shayateen pleased with them.

Do Jins and Shayateen have the knowledge of the Unseen? If not, how do they help the Kaahin? The Jins and Shayateen do not have the knowledge of the unseen, Allah ( subhana wa taala) alone has this knowledge and he is the sole knower of the unseen, but these Jins and Shayateen spread themselves in the skys and try to hear the conversations of the Angles in the Malayee Aaala (the high gathering of the Angles), sometimes they hear some information sometimes they are hit and killed, they arrange themselves in steps from the sky to the earth so they can pass the information to the next Jin down before they are hit, these Jins then add about 100 lies to a single true word which they hear and pass this information to their Kaahin, who in turn tells the people. The practice of Jins and Shayateen hearing information from the skys was wide spread before the time of our Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) and so even soothsayers were wide spread in that community, the people of that time considered these Kaahin s of that time as Aalims and learned personalities as the people used to say these learned people have the knowledge of the unseen, but when the time of our Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) came then Allah (subhana wa taala) put guards in the skies to stop this practice of the Jins, so the frequency of this practice reduced drastically, but after the death of the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) this practice again increased. How do these Kaahin and Baba instantly tell information about the person just by looking at them? We have learned in our pervious lectures that each one of us has a Satan/Jin along with us since we are born, so when someone goes to the Kaahin the Satan/Jin of the person informs various details about the person to the Satan/Jin of the Kaahin, who in turn inform the Kaahin, for example the Kaahin or Magician instantly sees someone as tells, so and so is your nameso and so is your fathers nameyou have so and so problem etc., such information is passed from the persons Satan/Jin to the Kaahin s Satan/Jin, and the people starts believing each and every word of the Kaahin after that, and start to believe that the Kaahin has knowledge of the Unseen Hadeeth Muslim recorded in his Sahih, from some of the wives of the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) that he (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: Whoever goes to a fortuneteller and asks him something and believes in his words, will have his prayers (Salat) rejected for forty days" Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below The Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) is saying that anyone who goes to a fortuneteller and asks him anything no matter what it is then his prayer will not be accepted for forty days. It does not matter if he believes in him or not, If a fortuneteller comes to someones house? The ruling is the same, if someone reads the horoscope in the newspaper? The ruling is the same. This is the punishment just for going to a fortuneteller and asking him something and not following his words yet.

What does the non-acceptance of Salat for 40 days mean in this Hadeeth? It does not mean that such a person does not have to pray for the next 40 days, he has to pray his Salat and fulfill the obligatory and other prayers, but these will not be accepted by Allah (subhana wa taala) and the person will have no reward for his Salah for 40 days, this is his punishment for just going to the soothsayer, if he does not pray for these 40 days he will get the sins of not praying as well. The hope and expectation for Reward for any good deed (obligatory or voluntary) has two conditions to it 1) Performing the good deed accurately with all the required/prescribed conditions 2) Acceptance of the good deed by Allah (subhana wa taala) When the two conditions above are fulfilled then only we can hope and expect or the rewards of the good deed we performed. What is the punishment for believing in the fortunetelling? Please see the two Hadeeth below Hadeeth

Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anha) reported that the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: Whoever visited a soothsayer and believed in his words, has denied the revelation to Muhammad (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) (i.e. has denied the Quran) (Abu Dawood) The other four Hadeeth collectors and Al-Hakim equally reported this Hadeeth of Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anha) and classified it as Sahih: that the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: Whoever visits a fortuneteller or a soothsayer and believes in his words, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) Hadeeth

Imran bin Husain (Radi Allahu Anha) narrates that Allahs Messenger (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said: He is not from us who seeks omens or has omens interpreted for him, or who practices fortunetelling or has his fortune told, or who practices sorcery and magic or goes to have it done for him, and whoever goes to a Kaahin and believes in what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) (Reported by Al-Bazzar with good chain of narrators) Sheikh Shamim explained the above Hadeeth as below The person who does such acts or has such acts done for him has done Shirk and is considered to be out of the boundaries of Islam and is considered to have done Kufr, the person described in the Hadeeth above is considered to have disbelieved in what was revealed to the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) and since he has disbelieved the prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) told He is not from us (Muslims)

This is a Major Sin and is considered as Kufr-e-Akbar (Major Kufr) by some scholars and such a person is out of the boundaries of Islam, but some consider this as Kufr-e-Azgar (Minor Kufr) and in this case such a person in not out of Islam but has done a Major Sin, weather its Akbar or Azgar it is from the Major Sins and the person will surely get the punishment for it, and we need to refrain ourselves and guide others not to be a part of such acts. Ibn Abbas (ra) said about those people who write Abjad (numerology) (Alphabet- to use in soothsaying, fortunetelling etc.) and gaze at the stars, and believe in their influences on the earth that I do not see that whoever does such has any share (in good) with Alla h (subhana wa taala). That completed the lesson number 26; after the lesson we always have a 5 to 10 min dars on Duas from Fortress of Muslim this class we heard from the sheikh the dua to be told while exiting from the Masjid and Dua told before and after Wuduu, the audio recording of the dua part has been attached along this mail, kindly refer for details. Inshallah tomorrow (25th June) we will be continuing with the Tauheed series & the topic for tomorrow will be Curing through Magical Spells (An-Nushrah) To find all the previous lectures (audio and text) just go to the link: http://www.islamurdu.com/tarbiyati_program.htm, for other lectures of Shaikh Shamim please visit the sitewww.IslamUrdu.com

We learned the chapter number 27 of the book Kitab - AtTawheed; the summary is as belowThe title of chapter 27 is Curing through Magical Spells (An -Nushrah). We continued with this chapter which also dealt with magic and it speaks about people who use Magic to cure Magic and what is said about such people. Sheikh started by briefing us with some points as below

Can Magic be used to cure Magic?

It is not permissible to use Magic to cure Magic, as when someone uses Magic to cure it, the help of Jins and Shayateen is taken and these Jins/Shayateen only help the person when he/she does shirk and other acts of abuse with Quran etc., and doing this is Kufr, hence this is not permissible, this case the person curing the Magic does similar acts as what the Magician does and hence it is not allowed. What is An-Nushrah?

An-Nushrah is the Arabic name given to the acts of curing Magic using Magic, before the Shareeyah of our Prophet Mohammed (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) the use of Magic to break the effects of Magic and to refute it was wide spread, An-Nushrah is the act of removing the effects of Magic with the help of Magic, at this is not permissible. What is the permissible way to break/remove Magic?

Breaking or removal of Magic has two ways (1) The non-permissible way which is as discussed above (An-Nushrah) and (2) The permissible way which is by the Recitation of the verses of Quran, Excessive remembrance and Zikr of Allah (subhana wa taala)and by Duas and some specific medicines, these permissible ways of removing Magic are also called as Ruqyah Hadeeth

Jabir (Radi Allahu Anha) narrates that the Prophet (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) was asked about An-Nushrah (the act of seeking cure from magical spells/incantation), he (Sallahu wa alihi wa sallam) said, It is one of the deeds of Satan.(Ahmed and Abu Dawood have reported it with good chain of narrators (Isnad))

Commentary

Imam Abu Dawood reported that when asked to Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal (Rahimatullah) about this he said, Ibn Masoud disliked all this, meaning cure through Magic and by using Taaveez and Gande is not permitted and doing this is Shirk Commentary

Al-Bukhari reports from Qatadah (Rahimatullah): I Said to Ibn AlMusaiyab (Rahimatullah), A man is under a magical spell or is unable to cohabitate with his wife, should we treat him by An-Nushrah or apply some other means to cure the spell/sorcery? Ibn Al-Musaiyab (Rahimatullah) replied, It is alright because they intend restoration or mending, that which benefits is not forbidden Explanation by Sheikh ShamimIbn Al-Musaiyab (Rahimatullah) was one of the high ranking Tabayee and was also the son-in-law of Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anha) and in the above commentary what Ibn Al-Musaiyab (Rahimatullah) meant is using the permitted kind of An-Nushrah which has no sorcery or magical spells involved to cure the man is alright because they intend restoration, which is using the verses of Quran, Zikr and Azkaar called as Ruqyah and by Duas. Commentary

Ibn Al-Qaiyim (Rahimatullah) wrote that An-Nushrah is removing the effects of sorcery/spells from the affected one, and it is of two types 1) The use of magic to remove the effects of another magic, and it is an act of Satan to which the comment of Iman Al-Hasan Al-Basri (Rahimatullah) applies i.e., that the one who performs sorcery and the patient, both get closer to Satan by that which he loves, Satan then removes the effects of magic from the afflicted, this type is not permitted. 2) The effects of magic can be removed by making recitation of the verses of Quran, by offering legitimate prayers Ruqyah as well as by pharmaceutical preparations; this type is the permissible An-Nushrah.
Permissible ways to Remove/break Magic!!! Further Sheikh Shamim informed and explained us the various verses of the Glorious Quran, Zikr and Remembrance of Allah (subhana wa taala) and other ways which can be used to break and remove the effects of Magic, Please read on as this is the most important part we learned in this chapter

What to recite excessively to break the effects of Magic? (Ruqyah) 1) Surah Fatiha (1) 2) Aayat Al Kursi, i.e. Surah Baqarah (2) verse (255) 3) Surah Baqarah (2) Last verses (285) and (286)

4) The Four Qul Surahs which are Surah Al-Kafirun (109), Surah Al-Ikhlas (112), Surah Al-Falaq (113), Surah Al-Nas (114) 5) Surah Al-Hashr (59) last three verses (22) (23) and (24)
The above five are the best Ruqyah that the person can do to break the effects of Magic, moreover the complete Quran has healing powers to it and is Shifah for the one who recites it with dedication and hoping of cure by the help of Allah ( subhana wa taala)

The benefits of reciting Surah Baqarah (2)

Reciting Surah Baqarah is one of the most excellent ways to break the effects of Magic, Jins and Shayateen do not enter the house in which Surah Baqarah is recited regularly and the Magician (sorcerer) has no spells to break the healing powers of Surah Baqarah, the person who is under the effect of any Magic should recite the complete Surah Baqarah every day until Inshallah the effects of Magic on him/her are cured. Reciting Aayat-E-Seher to refute/remove Magic and its effects

Following are the Aayat-e-Seher 1) Surah Al-Arraf (7) verses (118 to 122) 2) Surah Yunus (10) verses (79 to 82) 3) Surah Ta-Ha (20) verses (65 to 70) 4) Surah Baqarah (2) verse (102) Use of the Seder/Sidra Leaves and Ajwaa Dates

Take seven Seder/Sidra leaves, crush them and put in water, recite the above mentioned Ruqyah and Aayat-e-Seher and blow on the water, drink and have bath with this water, Inshallah the effects of Magic will be removed. Ajwaa dates should be given to the person affected by Magic. Some tips and precautions to take to always be protected from Jins/Shayateen and Magic and their effects
1) Make ones Aqeedah proper 2) Be regular in Salah and Fasting and do not leave any obligatory deed 3) Be regular in the Zikr and Azkaar of the Morning, Evening and Night (before sleeping)

4) Try to always be in Wuduu, and sleep in Wuduu 5) Not forgetting to say the Duas while entering and exiting the toilet 6) Reciting the above said verses regularly and in a loud voice 7) Reciting Surah Baqarah regularly

8) Not keeping photos/portraits of people hanged or in frames in the house 9) Stopping songs and other such things to be played/heard in the house Surah Mulk (67) should be recited to refute the effects of evil eye Nazar Surah Jinn (72) should be recited on the person who is under the effect of Jinn.

That completed the lesson number 27; after the lesson we always have a 5 to 10 min dars on Duas from Fortress of Muslim this class we heard from the sheikh about Adhan and the rewards of Adhan, the audio recording of the dua part has been attached along this mail, kindly refer for details.
