VIEWING & PRINTING TIPS
You should save this file to your computer so you can revisit at your convenience to print pages as needed.
The latest version of Adobe Acrobat is recommended. You may have more than one version on your computer. Uninstall the old version(s) if you are having problems.
Adobe Acrobat Reader may have the option Fit to Page checked by default. This may or may not result in a better printout. Experiment with this to get the best results & correct size.
If you have problems printing, try checking the option Print as Image.
If the pages are printing without the images, your computer may be low on memory or resources. This is a common problem associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Restart your computer and try printing again. Also try sending fewer pages to the printer at a time. If you dont have the most current version of Acrobat, you may also experience problems

Instructions for Alphabet Lotto:
Hand out one Lotto Card to each player. Place the letters face down on the table. One person should be the caller. The caller should turn over a letter and say aloud its sound, showing the letter to the other players. Players then find that letter on their own cards. The first person to cover the middle and four corners OR any five letters in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally is the winner. Use counters or M&Ms.
NOTE: Always say the letter SOUNDS as well as the letter names. For example, you could say This is the letter C (pronounced see ), which sounds like /c/ as in cat. This is important for later on when they begin to spell words phonetically.
Teacher Notes:
When they turn over a letter, ask them to name a word, which begins with that sound.
Point out that every word has a vowel in it . (a,e,i,o,u,). I call these the special letters.
How many vowels are in their name? (y is used occasionally as a vowel, eg by ). Can they spot the 5 vowels on their Bingo Card?
Have fun beginning to spell three letter words. Take 2 vowels, (a,e,i,o,u) and 5 consonants (thats all the other letters that arent vowels), and see if they can spell out words. Each word must have two consonants and one vowel. Take turns using other vowels & consonants.
Words to spell with the short a vowel: bag, bat , can, cat , etc Words to spell with the short e vowel: beg, met , pet , vet etc Words to spell with the short i vowel: big, dig, hit etc Words to spell with the short o vowel: got , not , dot , etc Words to spell with the short u vowel: dug, mug, hug etc
Print an extra set of letters on coloured card, and play Matching Pairs.
