Krendl bringing the magic to Canal Days

Delphos native Paul Krendl with Krendl & Company will bring the magic to Canal Days this year with his Dare to Dream: 2013 Grab the Illusion Tour. The two 90-minute shows set for Saturday in the Jefferson Middle School auditorium will include more than four nationally-televised illusions, professional state-of-the-art sound and intelligent lighting to transport the audience to a Las Vegas-style show-room production. One of the featured pieces Krendl is most well-known for is making it magically snow not only over the entire stage, but the audience as well. Krendls highly-interactive shows blend comedy, theater and magic together. He has won several awards, most recent attraction of the year award for the Virginia Beach Resort Area and has performed overseas along with entertaining for various cruise ships. When asked about his thoughts on returning home to where it all started he said, What a true dream come true! This is the first time since I have left my hometown to bring our touring production show home. I dont think the timing could be any better! I have been very fortunate and blessed with an amazing career that has taken me places I could of never imagedand to think it all started after performing my very first magic show in my 6th grade classroom all those years ago. In addition to bringing our grand illusion show to the region, it also happens to time out with my 15 year class reunion. Being able to see friends and family and catch up with people is just icing on the cake! To purchase tickets for the Grand Illusion Show at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., call the chamber office at 419-695-1771 or email a request to canaldays@delphoschamber.com.

He will entertain the crowd with two, 10-15-minute mini shows. The Toast is set to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday with registration beginning at 5 p.m. The Toast will again offer a variety of foods from local restaurants, specialty beers and wines. 2013 Canal Days Chairman Michael Mesker will present the Toast ceremony along with Mayor Mike Gallmeier. A short program will be followed by Krendl and Companys special magic. This is the third year in a row the Toast has sold out and last year, the Social Tent was expanded to accommodate more people.

Jefferson High School senior Tori Suever was crowned the 2013 Canal Days Queen Sunday evening during the annual pageant at Jefferson Middle School auditorium. Suever was chosen from nine contestants. She was crowned by 2012 Canal Days Queen Whitney Hohlbein and will reign over upcoming festivities that begin Thursday with the Toast to the City at 6 p.m. Suever is looking forward to her duties. I am so excited to be a part of Canal Days, Suever said Sunday evening. I cant wait for the Toast and other events. The daughter of Matt and Terri Suever entered the pageant for several reasons. I wanted to earn a scholarship, get over my stage fright and meet new people. I accomplished all those things, she said proudly. Suever is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad for both football and basketball and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and volunteers with many of the youth ministry programs at her church. She also serves as a volunteer cheer coach for the Upward Basketball Program and gives her time at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Angels for Animals and the Delphos Community Christmas Project.
