Research Design

The research design of the study is descriptive in nature because it wanted to find out the
participation of the business sector in the political governance within Bacolod City. It is
interested in knowing how the business sector in particular influences the outcomes of
political events or actions in the city of Bacolod and how the key actors within the
business sector influence the decisions and political participation of the government.

Instrumentation

The survey questionnaires that the study employed are the Quantitative, Quantitative
scaling and Qualitative open ended questions. Qualitative for the questions answered by
yes or no; qualitative scaling was used for the respondents to asses determine the role of
business chambers in local governance; and the qualitative open ended questions to
determine the knowledge and understanding of the respondents.

To ensure the internal reliability and validity, the instrument was pre-tested to 10
respondents who will be randomly chosen. The survey employed will be a scheduled
interviews with the respondents who will be randomly chosen. The schedule that will be
employed is a scheduled interview type wherein interviews with the respondents will be
conducted and if respondents are difficult to reach the study of 10 to let the instrument be
left and gather it back whenever the respondents will finish answering the said
instrument. Thus, probing and validation of survey data are easily done.

In the key informant questionnaire, the researchers will use the same format and
questions in the survey questionnaire; however the researchers added profound questions
that will give supplementary facts and information.

Data Gathering Procedure

The study use several steps, and this includes the following;
First, the study conducted a Key Informant which help in constructing survey instrument.
Some of the variables in the questionnaire will be taken from the Key Informant
specifically the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industries. ieA letter will be
sent to the office of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industries for the
permission to conduct survey interview to the business operators. Then the study will
conduct a schedule interview with the respondents. The study will focus on the members
of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industries who will well represent the
all the business sectors in the locality. This includes those members of the Metro
Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industries who are also part of the Negros
Occidental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (the Blue China) &
the Negros Occidental Filipino-Chinese Amity Club Incorporated (the Red China) but
chain/location of business is only situated in the City of Bacolod. After the data
gathering, the researchers will proceed to the analysis and conclusion of the data.
Respondents

The study identified the population of the respondents and was able to get the desired
number. The respondents of the study are the business operators specifically the
members of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industries including members
from the Negros Occidental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries and
Negros Occidental Filipino-Chinese Amity Club Incorporated.
