ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA The number, size, type, and orientation of nozzles and manholes shall be in accordance with that specified on the Storage Tank Data Sheet and the equipmet's P& ID. Nozzle and piping sizes 1- inch, 2- inch, 3- inch and 5 inch NPS are not used. Nozzles 2 inch NPS and larger are flanged. Connections 1- inch NPS and smaller, other than welding outlets and welding bosses, are Class 3000 minimum, either socket welded or threaded couplings. Connections 1- inch NPS and smaller are gusseted to prevent potential physical damage during handling and shipping. One-24 inch NPS shell manway is provided for aboveground, vertical cylindrical tanks. Clean out opening may be substituted in lieu of manway. One-20 inch NPS roof manway is provided for aboveground, vertical cylindrical tanks larger than 10,000 gallons capacity. One-20 inch NPS manway is provided for aboveground or underground horizontal cylindrical tanks. Normal and emergency venting requirements shall be specified per API STD 2000, SAES-J-600, SASD AB-036003 & AD-036061. All open vents shall be protected by bird screens. Consideration of vent orientation & location shall include prevention of wind-bourne sand & debris from entering the tank (consider prevailing winds). Temperature Instruments (Tank Appurtenances) Dial thermometers are installed, when required by the Operating Unit at the specific facility. The size and location of thermometers is as shown on Form SA 2696ENG. Tanks with heaters are equipped with a self-actuating temperature controller, unless the inlet steam temperature is such that the condensing temperature will not exceed the process needs. The location of the sensing point for the controller is the same as for a dial thermometer. The location of the sensing point for the controller is the same as for a dial thermometer. Level Gauging Systems (Tank Appurtenances) Minimum of one level gauging instrument per tank, readable either from grade or from an access platform, is installed. Provisions for manual gauging is provided, even if the tank is provided with an automatic gauging device. Sample Connections (Tank Appurtenances) Sample connection is provided, when required by the Operating Unit at the specific facility.
