Dream Interpretations and Principles

Information and Tips We all dream. Usually every night whether we remember it or not. We sleep one-third of our lives with dreaming a big part of that. Do you want to understand what your dreams are saying? Some are playful, some dark, some very emotional, some just plain weird. But I believe dreams have significant meaning in our lives. They either speak of our past, present and sometimes our future. 80-90% of your dreams are about you. Many people look for interpretation, but without true guidance, the truth can be hidden. Seek the one who created the universe and you'll find there is meaning to much of what you dream. Even emotions that you feel are a big part in finding the meaning. Interpretation should be an encouragement, an uplifting from God. Sometimes what we dream literally happens. This type of dream is a vision or a prophetic type dream. For example you dream of a tornado hitting a certain place, then it happens. That type of dream is given for you to pray and intercede, sometimes just for your awareness and preparation. Other than a vision or prophetic dream, your dreams are going to be symbolic or metaphoric. A tornado dream may be symbolic of an approaching stormy or difficult time in your life or other various areas of life, business, economical, etc. God may be allowing you to see the plan of the enemy (who comes to kill, steal and destroy.) Visions are literal events that will happen. Dreams are usually symbolic. As you see the difference you'll be able to recognize when your having a symbolic dream or a vision within a dream. As you look at each highlighted element, object, person, number you begin to put a puzzle together. Even action and feelings are important to interpretation. You may go through your day and the Holy Spirit will point something out for you, and you're putting things together that represent a meaning for your dream or simply a message for you to pray about and let go (let God have it). If you've prayed it through, God will reveal it's meaning in His time.

Depending on the context of your dream, the meaning of an element should flow with the other elements of the dream. As you go about In your personal life, you will get hints from time to time of symbolic meanings. This is help from the Holy Spirit, possibly training your spirit to resonate with His spirit and receive it's meaning / message. Sometimes a dream does not have an immediate interpretation, it may come months or years later. If you are having trouble you can use a Christian interpreter, but you must always TEST it with the word of God and the Holy Spirit. Test, Test, Test! Someone might receive an interpretation for your dream (from God), but may not know your personal life, and may leave a part out or add their input to it... So test it before taking any action. Don't take action, even when you know the meaning. Wait for confirmation from God in other ways before taking action, because usually it's a call to pray about a situation, to bring you closer to the Lord and/or to bring awareness about it. He may add to the message at some other time, by His word, another person, a situation, a visitation, etc. "Those who wait for the LORD will (gain) renew their strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not be weary (tired), They will walk and not faint" Isaiah 40:31. God's dream language uses symbols that can stump you. It's important to have some bible knowledge so that God will have something to work with. A great place to start is reading the bible parables, bible dictionaries and christian dream interpreter books. This collection of biblical symbolic meanings will be the foundation for all other things to base from. For example, your mom is in your dream, but your not sure why she lit a candle. In a dream language we see that mom (mother) can mean: the Holy Spirit, Church, Source, Love, Kindness, Spiritual or your Natural Mother. The Holy Spirit will guide and prompt you into the meaning so that you can work on the next element. It might be a little messy at first, but you'll get there. Take note of actions, feelings and whatever the spirit highlights to you. God gives you piece by piece, hardly ever will it all come at you at once. Your journal can be full of dreams and yet only a few resonate with your spirit. In other words, as you begin to work with the Holy Spirit your understanding of dreams will grow. Remember that the Holy Spirit is a counselor, guide, teacher and comforter. He uses dreams to encourage and give direction. With God all things are possible for those who believe. A vision is usually while someone is awake, but can happen in a dream. Visions are seeing images on the screen of your mind. They are usually literal and to come to pass. (The vision definition does not include what we think of as imagination.) A vision may be given for you to pray for God's mercy, justice, wisdom, understanding, comfort, etc. It can be given simply to be more aware of what God is doing. "I the LORD will make myself known unto

him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream" (Numbers 12:6). Dreams are symbolic beginning with what the bible says about a certain word or situation. Remember all those parables? Dreams can be a foreshadowing or a warnings of something that is occurring or can occur. Dreams from the enemy can be deceptive and mixed with truth - which are given to mislead, confuse, and give doubt. "I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons" (Psalm 16:7). Since dreams are of a spiritual realm, the source is spiritual. Here are the sources of where dreams come from: 1. Holy Spirit (God = Spirit Dreams) 2. Soul: Life experiences, wants and desires. 3. Enemy: evil spirit (demonic) HOLY SPIRIT? You may think: What does the Holy Spirit (or God) have to do with dreams? Everything. God is spirit, you are a spirit, the enemy is also spiritual. Interpretation of dreams should come from the Holy Spirit. From any other source will lead you on a path that seems good, but is misleading. The enemy can try to give you a wrong interpretation cloaked with nice words, perhaps even with scripture but mixed with twisted meanings. This will result in deception and wrong interpretation, therefore more discouragement. He (devil) has come to steal, kill and destroy you and your dreams. The secular world is limited and cannot see what God wants to reveal or impart into your life. As Jesus said, he has sent us His Holy Spirit to counsel and guide us, to give us wisdom and reveal Himself to us. For example God could be highlighting an issue at work and giving you good counsel as how best to handle it and to prepare you for the future. Another example is He could be saying in a dream: Come out of the dark and into the Light! Receive my free gift today, and begin a new life journey. Scroll down to "Spiritual Things" and see what that involves. Soul Is made up of 3 parts: mind, will and emotions. When we dream through our soul, it filters what God's spirit is sending to our spirit. Rather you want a dream that doesn't have our soul filter but comes through our sanctified spirit. This comes by spending time in prayer and His word, your soul becomes less thick and your spirit becomes stronger. Enemy is just that. It doesn't take much discernment to know or feel that something in the dream was not right. It can really play with your soul through old memories, past sins, open doors and your emotions. Key is to memorize a faith scripture to say before bed, during a bad dream and after.

Give all dreams to God. With this kind of dream, leave it in His hands asking for His wisdom and protection. True Interpretation Comes By: 1. Holy Spirit will highlight as you search out its meaning through study and prayer 2. Holy Spirit gives interpretation in the dream 3. Angel of God gives interpretation from God God uses principles of things that we see during the day, read in the book, see in a movie, to gain meaning to a symbol or metaphor. Mainly to help unfold the dream for understanding. Happened to me many times, I'll be shopping in a store, or driving down the road and the meaning of some part of a dream hits me. Mainly God wants you to have the biblical principles of dream interpretation, rather than give you the answer simply. Look to God to interpret your dream. Inquire the Lord, dreams are sealed. Rely on the Holy Spirit, depend on Him for revelation and understanding. Skill to interpret must be acquired (to understand) with God's help. Daniel said about the angel: He gave me instruction and talked with me and said, "O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill (insight) with understanding" (Daniel 9:22). Why does God give us dreams? - To help us solve our problems - To reveal things we didn't know (such as self-condition) - To show His love to us - To give us Direction - To give us Correction - To give clues how to pray about a situation, person etc. Why would God allow you to see what the enemy is doing (in a dream)? - To reveal the enemies plan so you can pray accordingly - To show generational issues (legal ground the enemy may be using) - To show sin issues that opened up wrong spiritual doors

- Issues with the land Scriptures to Speak before bedtime: - I have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:5). - I have the peace of God that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). - Greater is He Who is in me than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). - I have received the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus, the eyes of my understanding being enlightened (Ephesians 1:17,18). - I can do all things through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:13). - I am greatly loved by God (Romans 1:7; Ephesians 2:4; Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4). Dream Journal You'll need to have a notebook and pen by your bed. As you commit yourself to writing down your dream, it's the first thing you do. Don't think or try to analyze it, just write. The more you think "that doesn't make sense", the more likely you won't write it and soon it fades. The more awake you become, the more your dreams fade away. They don't always make sense, God just wants to know "What did you see?" and when your faithful to that, he'll give you more. Some of your shortest and most bizarre dreams can turn out to be the greatest revelations! Many times your dream fills a whole page. Some say that many of the details of a long dream may not be necessary for an interpretation, but write it down, then you can rewrite it with less detail. As you do the Holy Spirit may highlight some key elements to discern. He will quicken you, or as you review it some words seem to have weight. That could be the Holy Spirit guiding you, always be in prayer throughout interpretation. Sometimes its good to have a knowledgeable christian interpreter to help and to compare what you came up with. Some dreams actually take years to understand, some a few hours. Spend time with the Lord, that's really what He wants because He loves you so much. To Sum Up, Redefine and Recap Defining Dream and Vision: Dream - "A sequence of images, etc. passing through a sleeping person's mind" (Webster's Dictionary) Vision - "A mental image" (Webster's Dictionary)

"In a dream, a vision of the night..." (Job 33:15) You will note from this verse the close connection the Hebrews maintained between the dream and the vision. The words are used almost interchangeably. Both dreams and visions involve the viewing of images on the screen within one's mind. Often we would think of a dream as the flow of these images while sleeping and a vision as the flow of these images while awake. Daydreaming is MAN utilizing the visionary process. This is not encouraged, and may be what is referred to in Ecclesiastes 5:7. It is better to present the eyes of the heart to God and ask Him to fill them with a divine flow of dreams, visions and godly imaginations. Some Scientific Observations Concerning Dreams Sleep laboratories have proven that everyone dreams one to two hours each night during a certain period of sleep known as alpha level, which is light sleep. Every 90-minute cycle of sleep begins with alpha, then goes into deeper sleep which is called theta, and finally deepest sleep which is called delta. At the close of the first 90-minute cycle each night, the individual returns to alpha level sleep, where he has a short, five-minute dream period. The next time he cycles up to alpha, he has a ten-minute dream period. The third time in alpha, the dream period is about 15 minutes, and so on. If one sleeps a full eight hours, the entire last hour is essentially spent in alpha level sleep. Thus, the average person sleeping for eight hours a night will dream about one to two hours of that time. Alpha level sleep is where one has what is called Rapid Eye Movement (REM). Rapid Eye Movement is exactly what it sounds like: the eyes of the dreamer begin moving rapidly. He is actually watching the scenes in the dream, and thus his eyes are literally moving back and forth, observing the action. By observing the alpha level sleep when Rapid Eye Movement occurs, researchers in sleep laboratories have determined when a person is dreaming and how much time is spent dreaming in an average night. They have discovered that if they awaken a person every time REM begins, preventing him from dreaming, after about three nights the individual will begin to show signs of having a nervous breakdown. Clearly dreams are an inner release mechanism which helps provide us with emotional balance and maintain our sanity. Dreams can be considered guardians of our mental and emotional well-being. Seven Reasons We Should Listen to Our Dreams

God declared that He WOULD speak through dreams and visions in the Old Testament. And He said, "Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream" (Num. 12:6). God declared that He DID speak through dreams and visions in the Old Testament. "I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets" (Hos. 12:10). God declares that He WILL communicate through dreams and visions in the New Testament. "And it shall come to pass in the last days," saith God, "I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams" (Acts 2:17). God declares that He WILL COUNSEL us at night through our dreams. I will bless the Lord who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind (inner man) instructs me in the night (Ps. 16:7). Rather than our dreams being fatalistic, dreams are calling us to change SO WE WILL NOT PERISH. For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then He openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That He may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword (Job 33:14-18, emphasis mine). God does very significant things WITHIN dreams. For example, He established the Abrahamic Covenant in a dream. And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him....And God said to Abram....In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying... (Gen. 15:12,13,18, emphasis mine). God grants supernatural gifts THROUGH dreams. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, "Ask what I shall give thee...."

"Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge Thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this Thy so great a people?" "...Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee...." And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream (I Kings 3:5,9,12,15). Summarizing the Importance of Our Dreams God has chosen to communicate with mankind through dreams. He guides and counsels us through our dreams. He establishes covenants with us through our dreams. He grants us gifts in our dreams. He utilized dreams from Genesis to Revelation, and declared that He would continue to use them in the last days. When you total up all dreams and visions in the Bible, and all the stories and actions which come out of these dreams and visions, you have about one-third of the Bible, which is equal to the size of the New Testament! Dreams are a central way God has chosen to communicate with us, and thus they must be given great weight! Five Things You Can Do to Help Recall Your Dreams Say to yourself, "I believe dreams contain a valid message." This is a signal to your heart that you are taking it seriously and want to hear what it has to tell you. You are giving it permission, and even asking it to awaken you after each dream. Your heart will do exactly that. You see, if you do not awaken within five minutes of the dream ending, you will not recall it. If, however, you tell your heart that dreams are leftover undigested pizza, then you heart lets you sleep through the dream and doesn't awaken you after it is over, and thus you do not recall it. Ask God to speak to you through dreams as you fall asleep. God does answer prayers, especially when prayed in accordance to His will! Put your journal beside your bed and immediately record your dreams upon awakening. You will forget most of your dreams by the morning, so get up and write them down when you awaken. Get eight hours of sleep, as the entire last hour will be dream-time. Awaken naturally, without the use of an alarm clock, as alarms shatter dream recall and blast tidbits of dreams into oblivion where they are never found.

If you will do the above five things, you will recall dreams every week. Are spiritual things something new to you? You won't understand spiritual things with your mind, but you can with God's spirit in you. You can overcome blockages that have kept God's voice from revealing many marvelous things to you! It's simple to come into the kingdom of God. He gave us His son to die on a cross and set us free from sin and death. Because of the sacrifice of His son, we receive His blood upon the altar of our hearts and are cleansed and forgiven. Begin with a humble and repentant heart. Seek the will of God daily. Then obey the scriptures and the early teachings of all of the Apostles. They were instructed by Jesus to tell all believer's to be baptized into His name. One of the most straight-forward ways of shattering the dogma of the Trinity is to understand Scriptural water baptism: Ephesians 5:5, "There is only one Lord, only one Faith and only one water baptism for the remission of past sins." As Christians, we are duty bound to ourselves and to God to first attain the faith of the apostles and prophets so that our water baptism is Scriptural and not in vain. The word 'baptize' means to immerse under water, not to sprinkle or pour a little water over the new believer: Acts 10:47, "Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized?" John 5:23, "John also was baptizing at Aenon because "there was much water there." Acts 8:39, "And they went both down into the water, both Philip and the Eunuch; And he baptized him." Acts 8:59, "They came up out of the water." Romans 6:4, "We are buried with Him by baptism into death." Romans 6:5, "We have been planted together in the likeness of His Death". Jesus said. "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved" (Mark 16:16). Peter said, there were eight saved by water in Noah's time, "the like figure whereunto even baptism does also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), by the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (I Peter 3:20-21). Having the privilege of turning the keys of faith to unlock the Kingdom of heaven to the Israelites, the Samaritans, and we Gentiles, Peter said, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the

remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). Since baptism is important to salvation and means to immerse, not sprinkle, I am confident that if you have not been baptized correctly, and in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that you will run to the water in repentance and obedience while grace is still available. Scriptural Water Baptism is in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Jesus taught, "that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name, beginning at Jerusalem" (Luke 24:47). Peter obeyed saying, "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the promised Gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38-39). And on the day of Pentecost about 3,000 Israelites and proselytes were born-again and baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter unlocked the new birth to the Samaritans and "they were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus; then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost" (Acts 8:16-17). Next Peter turned the key of faith for the Gentiles, "To Jesus Christ all the prophets witness that, through His Name, whosoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins. And while he was yet speaking, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the Word. And those of the circumcision who had come with Peter were astonished, because the Gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. . . And he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. . ." (Acts 10:43-48). Paul re-baptized all those who had been baptized other than in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, such as those of Ephesus who had been baptized for repentance by John. "When they heard this they were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus" (Acts 19:3-5). Acts 4:10-12, "There is none other Name under Heaven whereby we must be saved." Revelation and repentance followed by Scriptural water baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins is the answer of a good conscience towards God, resulting in justification and salvation by grace through faith (I Peter 3:21). Colossians 3:17, "Whatsoever you do in word or in deed do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus." Until and unless you have been baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, you have not been baptized in the Name (singular) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19 and Luke 24:47.

The Bible is the story of God expressing His Attributes thereby changing His form from the eternal Spirit alone with His thoughts to the manifestation of those thoughts in the glorified flesh of His Family. Since our Lord Jesus Christ came in His Father's Name (John 5:43), and God is our progenitor, His Name is also our Family name. Ephesians 3:14-15, "I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from Whom the whole Family in heaven and earth is named." Since the Man Jesus was Emmanuel - God manifest in flesh - "In Whom dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Colossians 2:9), we are to be baptized in His Name. Water baptism must be in the Name of the crucified One: I Corinthians 1:12-15, "Now this I say, that each of you says, I am of Paul; or I am of Apollos; or I am of Cephas; or I am of Christ. Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?" "I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name." The Name Jesus means Jehovah Savior (Faussets Bible Encyclopedia, p. 359). Every son comes in his father's Name, so when we are born-again and baptized, we receive the Name of our heavenly Father as Jesus received that Name before us. Christians know that the Name of the Son was Jesus, called Emmanuel in fulfillment of prophecy because He was the fullness of God with us (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:21-23). When Jesus was baptized in the Jordan He was overshadowed by the Shekinah in the form of a dove and became the Christ or anointed One. When He overcame in the garden of Gethsemane He became Lord. There are many Jesus', many lords (I Corinthians 8:5) and many christs or anointed ones (Matthew 24:24), but there is only one Lord Jesus Christ, and it is His Name we take in baptism. The Name of the Father is Lord Jesus Christ, the Name of the Son is Lord Jesus Christ, and the Name of the Holy Ghost - which is 'what' God is (John 4:24) - is Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:26). If you have any false ideas that history can prove water baptism in any other way than in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I advise you to read the histories and find out for yourself. The following is a true record of a baptism which took place in Rome AD 100 and was reproduced in TIME Magazine, December 5, 1955. "The deacon raised his hand, and Publius Decius stepped through the baptistery door. Standing waist-deep in the pool was Marcus Vasca the woodseller. He was smiling as Publius waded into the pool beside him. 'Credis?' he asked. 'Credo,' responded Publius. 'I believe that my salvation comes from Jesus the Christ, Who was crucified under Pontius Pilate. With Him I died that with Him I may have Eternal Life.' Then he felt strong arms supporting him as he let himself fall backward into the pool, and heard

Marcus' voice in his ear - 'I baptize you in the Name of the Lord Jesus' - as the cold water closed over him." Yes, if there were three Gods, you might very well baptize for a Father, and a Son, and a Holy Ghost. But the revelation given to John was that there is one God and His Name is Lord Jesus Christ, and you baptize for one God and only one. That is why Peter baptized the way he did at Pentecost. He had to be true to the revelation which was, "Let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, Whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ." There He is, "The Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He was Emmanuel: God with us - not a second, third or any other fraction or person, but the One Person of "God manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory" (I Timothy 3:16). If Jesus is both Lord and Christ, then He (Jesus) is, and cannot be else but "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" in one Person manifested in the flesh. It is not "God in three persons, blessed trinity," but One God, one Person with three major Titles, with three offices manifesting those Titles. Hear it once more. This same Jesus is "both Lord and Christ." Lord (Father) and Christ (Holy Spirit) are Jesus, for He (Jesus) is both of them (Lord and Christ). "The triune and trinity formula was not uniformly used from the beginning, and up until the third Century, baptism in the Name of Christ only was so widespread that Pope Stephen, in opposition to St. Cyprian, said that baptism in the Name of Christ was valid. But Catholic missionaries, by omitting one or more persons of the Trinity when they were baptized, were anathematized by the Roman Church. Now the formula of Rome is "I baptize thee in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 11th Edition., Vol. 3, p. 365-366). "Everywhere in the oldest sources, it states that Baptism took place in the Name of Jesus Christ" (Encyclopaedia Britannica, Vol. 3. p. 82). "Whoever has received this sacrament bares indelible to all eternity the mark of Christ" (Ibid, Vol. 3, p. 84). "The early church always baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus until the development of the Trinity doctrine in the 3rd Century; afterward they were baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" (Canney Encyclopedia of Religion, p. 53).
