    CONTEST GUIDELINE: 1980s Dance Showdown Fellowship Night 20 April 2013

    1. There will only be one entry/representative per Regional Area. 2. Each area representative shall be a group of 12-15 dancers. Area and District officers are highly encouraged to participate but shall not comprise more than 33% of the group (4-5 dancers maximum). 3. Each group may include the following dance steps to the tune of any 1980s song/dance hit which features a signature dance move. For example: a. The group may also perform any of the signature dances popularized by dance groups such as Wea, Vicor, Octo, etc. in the Philippines. For example: a. All entries (name of group and area representation, names of participants, and song title) must be submitted on or before April 12, 2013. 7. As with the style of 1980s dance showdowns, groups will perform in sequence and in complete continuity. Details on the actual sequence of performance shall be drawn on the afternoon of April 20, 2013. Please send a representative. 8. Criteria for Judging: Timing: Timing points are determined by the ability of the dancers to dance on the downbeat of the music, and to include syncopations that are also on the beats of the music. (15%) Technique: We are looking for good footwork, balance, control, frame and line and how well turns & spins are executed. Well controlled arms and hands. (15%) Teamwork: The ability of the partners to work together as a team. One person should not be obviously out dancing the other. TEAMWORK with actionreaction is essential in good dancing. (15%) Content: The content is the CHOREOGRAPHY, planned or spontaneous, and musical interpretation through physical movement. Choreography must follow the 1980s theme and dance steps mentioned above. (20%) Costume: Dancers are expected to wear typical1980s fashion in keeping with the theme. The more variety, the better. (15%) Showmanship: Showmanship/presentation is the ability of the dancers to keep the audience attention for the entire length of the performance as well as the confidence exuded during such performance. (15%) Top Brass Participation: Officers of the organization are encouraged to participate with the general membership. (5%)
