Life:

Daniel John Bedingfield, born 3 December 1979, is a British-New Zealand singer-songwriter. Bedingfield was born in New Zealand but raised in southeast London. He is the brother of pop singers Natasha Bedingfield and Nikola Rachelle. He is a contemporary rocker and songwriter/singer. His two sisters are also quite famous pop stars. In 2004, while he was visiting his parents in New Zealand, Bedingfield nearly lost his life in a serious car accident. He suffered sever neck and head injures as a result of the car rolling on top of him. This event changed his voice and his view on the world. He would only work with people he liked. Bedingfield comes from a selfless family and has continued to help others around him. His parents both work as counsellors for their job, but also do it voluntarily. Molly Bedingfield, Daniels mother, is the founder and CEO of Global Angels. Global Angels is an international children's charity meant to stop child trafficking and child poverty. Daniel is now one of the international executive directors. Bedingfield also helped to launch the Stop the Traffik association against modern day slavery. He is a Pentecostal Christian but is not the extremely religious type. He said, "I find that when people hear that I'm a Christian they expect me to be extremely religious. I'm not great friends with religion although I'm passionate about anything to do with God."

Early Music Career - 2003:

Daniel Beddingford, with his two sisters set up their first band in the 1990s. It was a Christian dance/electronic band called DNA Algorithm. In 2001, Daniel was inspired by his girlfriend in Leeds and wrote Gotta get

thru this. He recorded this song at home with just a microphone in his room. In December, a few weeks after Relentless Records released his single, it went straight to number 1 of the UK singles chart. The 21 year old became a local celebrity. This was the launch pad of his successful music career in the years to come. He started composing some new material and soon, in 2002, he launched his debut album Gotta get thru this. This lyrics of the song are about someone who is trying to get through life, without thinking about a person who they know they cant be together with. This was probably influenced by his girlfriend who wasnt close to him. Every song in the album was recorded with a software on his computer. This album peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and eventually sold an amazing 4 million copies worldwide. Gotta get thru this includes 3 singles which hit number 1 in the singles chart. They are Gotta get Thru this, If Youre Not the One and Never Gonna Leave Your Side.

Second Album 2004 - 2005

A few years later, in 2004, Bedingfield won a BRIT Award for the Best British Male Artist due to his success of his debut album. Following on from the success, he joined Polydor Records to release his second album Second First Impression. Sales were much lower for this album compared to his first. However, it did include two UK Top 20 singles, Nothing Hurts Like Love reached number 3 and Wrap My Words Around You peaked at number 12. His final single that he released in the album was his first single to miss out on a Top 40 spot. The Way was agonizingly close reaching number 41. His second album was also his last in his career so far. When he was a child, he was diagnosed with ADHD which he said affected his songwriting. We can see from his lyrics, that he is all about heartbreak from love.

Hiatus (Gap) 2006 - 2011

After Second First Impression, Bedingfield decided to take a break from creating albums. He started only working with other various artists. He co-wrote Works for me! for David Archuleta who was an American Idol finalist. He also recorded three songs with Busy Signal at DJ Karims Stainless Recrods studios in Kingston, Jamaica. Has has worked with Pixie Lott and has featured as a guest vocalist on a track by a former member of The Roots. In 2010, he went to Tel Aviv, Israel, where he stayed for a month. He wrote and recorded a song with a local folk band, The Raw Men Empire. He finished his stay in Israel hosting a variety of Israeli

musicians. He recorded a dancehall riddim (an instrumental of a song mainly applying to Jamaican music) in 2011 called Overproof Riddim. This was quite popular in Jamaica.

Return to Singles 2012

Bedingfield burst back into the music scene by releasing the single Rocks Off in February 2012. A B-Side (extra song) single was released along with Rocks Off. The B-Side single Its Not Me, Its You was made solely by Daniel. A few months later in April 2012, Bedingfield released an EP (Extended-play is considered too short to be recognised as an album and usually will contain 3-5 songs). This EP contained the singles Its Not Me and Rocks Off and included 5 other new tracks. After this, he released the single Secret Fear which contains some adult scenes. This single has gone on to win several awards.

Present X Factor 2012/2013

On 21st of December 2012 Daniel accepted the role of being one of four judges on New Zealand X Factor along with Stan Walker, Ruby Frost and Melanie Blatt. The show premiered on 21st April 2013 and he was the mentor for the girls category. He has taken the role of the unpopular judge, making unexpected decisions and also dresses quite crazily. Daniel Bedingfield, the pop star with his BRIT award, 6 UK top 10 singles and a massive 4 million in album sales between 2001-2004 has earned him a good reputation in the music industry. He says that England was tough with people criticizing his voice however in New Zealand, he is enjoying it. He has returned to the music scene, after an eight year hiatus, with a new genre of music which has continued his success. Due to his great achievements, he was selected to judge and mentor The X Factor New Zealand and is continually making inroads to be an even better artist.
