-- Counting words in sentences. This is a skill that goes with print concepts and increasing your childs awareness of text in books as they read. When you are reading books to your child at home , have them count the words in a short sentence. (3 to 5 words) Have your child tell you how many words there are. Often the students want to count the letters in every word in the sentence. We will continue to practice at school as well.

From the Teachers Desk:

It is jacket weather! Be sure your child has a jacket each and every day. Sometimes they may want a light jacket even in the school building. The temperature changes from day to day and room to room. We are practicing taking our jackets off the correct way.. There is a correct way? Well if you are in Kindergarten there is because if you take your jacket off wrong your sleeves end up inside your coat. Guess What? When the sleeves are inside they are hard to get out. Teach your child to hold their sleeves on their coats and jackets when they are taking them off. Teach your child to reach in a pull their sleeves out if they are stuck inside

Reminders !

Conference forms

Conference form #1 will came home on Friday. Conference form #2 will have a scheduled day and time for you to confirm on the form. Teachers are scheduling conferences for families with siblings this week. These families have to be scheduled together so that they can go from teacher to teacher in the same time frame. Please understand that many families request conferences after 5:00 p.m. However, with 26 students to conference not all can be scheduled in the late evening in 2 days. Be sure to mark your calendar for October the 9th and 10thboth of these days are designated for Parent Teacher ConferencesConferences will be after school and through-out the evening. Students with siblings at Bridgeport get the first priority for scheduling times- we have to coordinate times with the siblings teacher(s)

AND most importantly start letting your child zip or fasten their own coat! YEP on their own..thats how they learn.
Winter will be here before you know it and students need to be able to zip and or fasten their own coats daily.
