JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS

JOB: Plant a Mango Seedling

STEPS 1. Select a highly productive variety of mango.

HAZARDS a. Biological factors like climate and temperature can interfere with the growth of the plant. a. There could be biological stressors like bacteria and black spots. b. Lack of nutrients of dry and yellowish leaves. a. Intervening soil pollutants. b. Seedling left in any place can be eaten by certain animals. a. Flood can wash away the seedling if it rains hard. a. Improper use of tools could cause risk and trouble. b. Inappropriate handling of tools could cause severe pain. a. The roots could not penetrate sunlight if the hole got too deep. a. Tearing the cover of the seedling could break and destroy stems and leaves of the mango plant. b. Incorrect placing of the plant could damage the roots of the seedling.

CONTROL MEASURES a. Be sure to know what variety of mango grows best with changing climate. a. Choose a seedling that shows a wellgrown system and structure. b. Pick the seedling with mature green leaves. a. The seedling should be planted in a safe place.

2. Pick a mango seedling that is ready for planting.

3. Locate a good location.

4. Select the appropriate time for planting. 5. Gather all the equipment needed.

a. Observe weather news and plan the most appropriate time for planting. a. Know how to use different tools for planting. b. Acquire knowledge in the proper handling of equipment. a. Ensure correct measurements.

6. Dig a 1mx1m hole on the ground.

7. Remove the plastic pot cover of the seedling and put the seedling in the hole.

a. Always observe safety measures when dealing with sharp objects. b. Carefully separate the cover and the sprout without disturbing the roots.

8. Mix the fertilizer with the soil.

a. Too much fertilizer will not do any good to plants. b. Fertilizers could cause skin irritation and give rise to skin allergies. a. Too much water might cause the plant to sink and die. b. The plant could fall or bent because it is not yet compacted to the soil.

a. Adequate amount of fertilizer should be place on the plant. b. Always wear safety gloves to avoid direct contact with the fertilizer. a. Estimate the amount of water that could only consume by the plant. b. Use only adequate amount of water that will not allow the plant to move when watered. a. Measure the capacity of the seedling and meet the right measurements. b. Practice safety measures and proper handling of tools to avoid cautions.

9. Water the mango seedling.

10. Place a fence or a barrier around the plant.

a. The area inside the barrier could be too small for the plant. b. The fencing could be harmful if improperly done.

10. Preserve and withstand a healthy and sustainable atmosphere to the plant.

a. Grasses could grow along with the plant and could take away the nutrients that the mango plant could actually get. b. If not properly managed, the plant could nearly be destroyed.

a. Remove grass from the area. b. Apply standard nursery practices of regular irrigation, fertilizing, and pest and disease control to the mango seedling.
