Whats It All About?

REC ED is a program for youth in grades 9 - 12 which trains youth in recreation and leadership in their community. The information meeting is 3:30 - 4:45 pm, October 22, room 235 in NWSS. We will meet weekly from October to December to learn what makes a good leader and how to plan and run programs for New Westminster children and youth. In January you will have the opportunity to participate in programs and plan activities at special events such as Easter In Queens Park and other City events!

How Long Is it?

The REC ED program runs over the school year and allows for participants to gain 30+ hours of volunteer work. Our Tuesday meetings are at NWSS, from 3:15 - 4:30 pm, beginning October 29 for eight weeks. In the New Year, the your work experience is scheduled around your availability.

The REC ED Program gives you the chance to become a leader in your community and to use the skills and knowledge to enhance the community and yourself. The REC ED program is also a great way to get the service hours you need for graduation while gaining valuable experience and training that you can put on your resume or applications to post secondary schools.
