CENTRAL
CONTROL UNITS
The LiteTouch system is based around a Central Control Unit
which receives all switch information, processes the com-
mands, and transmits control data to the control modules.

LiteTouch provides three CCUs; the FIVEk, the Standard, and

the Compact. Each system only requires one CCU. The CCU
uses non-volatile memory to retain programming information
indefinitely and retains the current system status information
FIVEk CCU Compact CCU Standard CCU
through power interruptions of up to two days.

The CCU has no software limit on the number of masters and presets which may be assigned. This is limited only by available memory.
Master Ons, Master Offs, and Scene Presets may overlap load assignments with no logical conflict. All switch-to-load assignments, includ-
ing masters and presets, are fully user programmable in a simple Windows®, and menu-driven environment. Preset fades are smooth, con-
tinuous transitions to preset levels in a time frame independently programmable for each scene preset.

Each CCU has an astronomical clock/calendar which may be used to turn on or off any system loads. Events may be programmed to occur
on specific dates, specific days of the week, or on a daily basis. The times for the events may be specific clock times such as 11:00pm, or
times relative to sunrise or sunset such as 30 minutes after sunset.

STEP-BY-STEP SYSTEM DESIGN

Identify all Loads on the Electrical Blueprint

On your project’s set of electrical blueprints, identify each
load (or group of loads) to be independently controlled. An
independent load could be defined as the chandelier in a
dining room, all perimeter down lights in a room, an
exhaust fan, a motorized window cover, etc. See Sample
Blueprint on page 35.

Assign each Load a Unique Number/Name

Assign each load its own 3-digit load reference number,
and note that number on your blueprints for easy
reference. Use 100-series numbers for all first floor loads,
200-series for the main floor, etc. See Sample Blueprint
on page 35.

Use LiteWare to Define Load Characteristics

Identify each fixture on the project, include defining:

• Load Type - select from dozens of options,

including incandescent, Magnetic Low Voltage,
LED, etc.

• Fixture Function - is the fixture dimmable or

use for switching only?

• Define the Wattage of each fixture.

Fixture schedules can be imported from Excel®, as well

as exported and saved so they can bed reused if multiple
projects are using many of the same fixtures.

Identify Keypad Locations on Your Blueprints
Open up the blueprints again and identify each area where each LiteTouch keypad will be located. Draw a triangle
at the location, and pencil the station's two-digit identification number (01 through FF) in each triangle, LiteWare will
automatically generate these addresses if you choose. See Sample Blueprint on page 35.

Using the LiteWare Keypad Wizard,

Define Each of the Project’s Keypads

• Keypad Address & Name

• Keypad Location

• Keypad Style, Faceplate Finish & Number of Gangs

• Button Configuration & Color

• LED Color & Engraving Color or Backlit Feature

* For Retrofit installations, steps one through five are done as part of the LiteWare Keypad Wizard. When creating
a Wall Box Dimmer vs. a Low Voltage Keypad, the Wizard will require load type, wattage, and other load and
communication characteristics in addition to style, finish and other design details.

LiteWare Generates Important

Installation, Billing & Design Documents.
With all the information about you project entered,
LiteWare can generate a bill of materials, detailed
cost of the system, enclosure schedule for the
electrical installation, and much more.

The enclosure schedule defines the LiteTouch panel

structure by using fixture type, function and quantity
per load, etc. to determine which LiteTouch module
the load should be wired to, assigning and organizing
the most efficient use of LiteTouch equipment.

System Programming in LiteWare

Once keypads are designed, you will assign each button a function. Each button will need to be assigned a load
group and switch type. Dozens of standard switch types are available, including dimmer, toggle, scene, and user
programming. Refer to Page 36 to review a list of available switch types and common macro functionality for
creating custom switch types. Button Engraving also needs to be defined so that each button can be clearly
labeled for ease of system use. Use LiteWare to program event timers, integration functions and Remote Access
through iPhone® or other Smart Phone.

System Installation
At the job site, the electrical contractor will run the wire,
install the enclosures, place the various modules in the
proper enclosures bring line voltage wiring from each
circuit in the home to the correct module input, and
place each control station in its respective location.
Module placement and wiring terminations are defined
by LiteWare.

File Upload and System Turn On

Once all components are installed, upload the project’s
LiteWare file into the LiteTouch CCU. The LiteTouch
CCU will execute the system commands and act as a
connection hub to integrate with other automation
sub-systems.

GUIDE TO SWITCH TYPES
Switches/Buttons are located on each keypad and may be used in several ways. LiteWare Design & Programming
Software is used to assign switch functions to each button in the LiteTouch system, creating unique functionality for
every project. Switch functions, as well as the loads assigned to that button, can be changed at any time without
the hassle of rewiring. Below is a list of all standard switch types offered by LiteTouch Systems, if your project

SCENARIO
GIVE ANY SINGLE ROOM THE POWER OF LIGHTING CONTROL
Replace existing toggle and dimmer switches with the LiteTouch Scenario. The
LiteTouch Scenario combines comfort and convenience with nine buttons for pre-set
scenes and master on/off functions, all easily accessed via remote control.

The LiteTouch Scenario is equipped with a powerful yet easy-to-use microprocessor.

LiteTouch Scenario is capable of controlling four individual series of lighting loads
which can be combined to create four preset scenes. The LiteTouch Scenario allows
“on/off” control and “dimming” all from the same device.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The LiteTouch Scenario is a four-gang, stand alone, scene preset system capable of controlling up to four independ-
ent dimming or switching loads. Each Scenario has four independent load control switches, four scene switches and
a master off switch. The LiteTouch Scenario is capable of controlling 2400 watts. (800 watts max per load; Tungsten Rating)

SYSTEM
UPGRADES

The original LiteTouch Lighting Control Systems were installed in the late 1970’s and
LiteTouch has been innovating ever since. But regardless of whether you installed a
LiteTouch system 30 years ago or last week, LiteTouch’s product design philosophy
guarantees that the system is always upgradeable to the latest features and styles.

LITETOUCH SYSTEM UPGRADES
