Dear Co-workers,

January,94

Praise the Lord for His watching care! The building is beginning to come right now, and the Lord willing, Dennis and Linda should be back by the time thatyou receive this letter, which means that Ican turn the Kimberley Road work back over to them and give more attention to the new work here in Alberton. We were delighted to have two of our young people ask to be baptized this week, however, we
still must discuss this with then and also with their mothers.

the basement storage here at the centre each morning. It is more than half here now, and most is stored in numeric sequence so that we can find stock when we need it. It is rather shocking how many boxes are either very light, or totally empty! That means the printing press must start producing re-prints shortly. Some of the shop shelf spaces for the same materials are also nearly empty. Fortunately, I can print
during shop hours.

For the lastseveral weeks, I have been bringing a load of printed material from the garage at home to

stores shelves to take down and re-install with their books. The entire upstairs (14 rooms) also needs to

In the meantime, I still have the floors of two toilets to be tiled, three doors to hang, the baptistery to

be sealed as it is unfinished knotty pine, including the ceilings. We need a work-team to come get us

organized again so that we can give our full attention to the work itself. Such jobs go very slowly when they are done by one person, and only during the first hour in the morning before opening the shop

doors. After that, we have to work at something in the Bible shop itself. Pray the Lord of harvest that He will send workmen, even temporarily, to help. We need permanent personnel to take over the

evangelistic work of the new church and to teach in the new School of Evangelism classroom. For now, I
am doing the preaching, and have announced an introductory class using video materials. We have about decided that as soon as our daughter is a fully registered nurse and can find an

The Christmas Summer holiday season is not the time to be starting a new work, but that will be over by the time you receive this letter and people will be back from their Speaking of holidays, Phyllis and I accepted Cinda Schaeffer's invitation to ride along to Port Shepstone with her this past week and we were able to spend two days with Lynn and Lucille Stanley. Lynn returned from surgery only a few days ago, so we were particularly concerned about his welfare. The surgery has cleared his blocked artery and he is much improved and is recovering the use of his right hand and doing his exercises. Phyllis and Lucille played endless games of Scrabble those two
days!

during the week. (I also attend one o( those as an "encourager"). Ii is a coiiplcs class and is in the evening. Do pray the Lord

With the exception ol the I'olding machine, the booklet .storage atid mailing tnom in the basement is now completed and
evciyihing is in place. 1have brought a few iicm.s lor the dark room as well. Iliai room is no where nearly ready to use, nor is
the small slrotig room for the mission's documents.

llie first clolhcs closet upstairs is fitted now with the exception of ihe sliding door which we plan to have professionally installed. I will now give attention to the door across the passage way toclose oil the caretaker's apariment from the rest of the upstairs and a second closet. Wc had nt^l anticipated quite the rush necessary to finish that, but one result of the steady stream of vicweis lo see Ihc iiouse was that lw(> ofthem, quite unknown lo one anollicr, made offers to the agenl.s at the same time, and both ofilicni wanted access the firsi of March or before. Hie loan for one ol them is now approved, however, he has found thai he must .stay in his apartment till the Hr.st of April. As thai is the date that Knihy gels posession ofhers, wc shall ask ifshe does not want lo stay till then in the house and we will move when things are ic.tdy. 'Hie parking area is being paved here at the Centre, atid I will order a shade and hail car[XMt shelter as soon as that is done. Wc plan to have a security gate and fence
put on that before wc can |)aik here all night.

We had a teal abundance of rain last nionth. One problem with so much was that we found the bascmenl storage room has a
sce[iage proliletn, and I carried out about live buckets of water. 1nccti lo install a sump pump. Fortunately, the .shelves in that

room are well olf llie lloor. 'Hiat is Ihe room that has tliou.sands of printed booklets stored in it. We keep our Bibles on the

main floor. Another problem wiih rain, is that wc don't get many shoppers al lltc Hible Shop on such days. Even the printing
press acts up! I must go down and oil the lools on my work bench too, or they will rust.

Wc hosted two commitlee meetings for the purpose of planning ihe program for Ihc Minister's Retreat and also the Missionary
Prayer and Fellowship meeting recently, llie latter is held here each moniii since Ican not get away for an entire afternoon. We
are not personally planning to go to the Minister s Retreat since it is a long way offUiis year and would reciuire that we close

people come and (Ind no one here, they think we have closed completely.

Dear Co-workers,

March, 94

Praises to Ihe Lord, the Tract Centre is

now virtually complete. Only finishing

touches still remain to be done to the

buildings, and ihey can be done as they

are needed, a few at a time. ITiere is

some tiling to be done in the toilets and on window sills, and much of the pine to be finished upstairs, but the church building, the baptistry, the School of Evangelism classroom, (seen in ihe picture), the Bible shop, the Print Shop,
and the caretaker's apartment are all

Mm

virtually completed, and we have sold our home and moved into the apartment.

All of the building is in use regularly

now! I would be happier if we had
greater security for the car and Bible

van, but that is being arranged at the

present time.

Our pocket fax/modem was apparently damaged by lightning so we replaced it with an internal computer-fax modem. It will be "on" during local office hours, barring an electrical storm, lliis has been installed now, and you should be ableto contact us by fax, using the same number as the Bible Shop telephone, 'llic apartment is also the same as we are cancelling the old 869 number. We can be reached on eitlier the church or ihc Bible Shop numbers, llie church has a 24 hour answering machine for prayer requests or other messages and the shop has a cordless extension for the lounge, kitchen, or upstairs.

Our School of Evangelism classes have been averaging three students each Saturday afternoon. We hope to start getting more
as we ofTer new short classes. I am making use of video lectures so far for these. We still need your prayers (hat the Lord will

send us a full time minister who can build the church membership. I am dividing my own time among all the various projects, and some of tliem are coming a bit short. We have considerable printing wailing in que, that I a>n battling lo get done. The offset camera would not go tlirough the door to the basement, so it is in a wide passageway, the only room that can be properly darkened on the ground floor. Two of its limits were broken in moving it. It is unusable without them and it is so old tliey are
probably no longer availablel

We were encouraged to have Iwo first timers last week for church. One was a Zulu man from Natal, lie came to see me on

Monday at the shop and offered to help mc in there on Mondays as he works niglils and does not sleep that day since he has the week end olT, TTie other was a lady Irom Phyllis' Wednesday evening Bible Study Class. Heather has participated in classes
spread over several months. She promises to come on the Sunday Evenings when she is working at a restaurant in Alberton. She is only here on ahernale week ends. Wc have had several enquiries at the Bible shop alK)ui the church as well. Continue to pray that these will result in their attending worship services.

Ihe New South Africa" is already going through teething problems, weeks hcfori' the elections. Ihe frozen food preparation

plant across the comer from the church scorns to be having a strike in progress. Today they closed down and put ip a 'Tor Rent sign. Ihey probably employed 35 people. A few days ago, the black staff were "toy toying" (d<uicing and singing) in fiont ofthe building for a couple ofhours before tlie police arrived and cautioned tliem lo stop creating a disturbance. They sat quietly on the grass the rest oftlie day. 'Ilie blacks are being promised that wealth will be redistributed and they will be given new homes, jobs with high pay, and beautiful free schools" aLnost immediately after tlie elections. Obviously, tJiat is itnpossible, esfwcially as schools and new homes have always been "trashed" imniediately they have been built in tlie past. '

'lliis was a busy long weekend for us in South Africa. Some of it was not planncdl Having gotten ourselves moved to the Gospel Tract Center Plaza building not long ago, we knew that we would have a busy start for April, but did not anticipate a
number of things all at once. Thursday -- The buyer of our former home had the estate agent phone and request that we mow ilie grass befoii-. ihey moved in. We had hccn out a month and the back garden hitiJ badly needed mowing when we left, so I struggled with getting a quarter acre of ft'ot high grass cut. in broiling sun, lliiisliinnjust as Kathy returned with the boarding school children. We immediately loaded three truckloads oflier things and look ilicm to her new apartment. As she did not luive the keys .is yet, they had to be stackcd on the third floiir stair landing and dt'S' ti the outside passage. As soon as that was somewhat settled, I returned to the house to load a heaping van full of twenty yc!ii\s accumulation of trash for the city dump. Fridjiy started the actual "long weekend" and I had a number of tasks about ilio building planned for this time when the nible shop would be closed. I prepared the bulletins and Sund.iy School sheets fot ilie Easter services and in the aflemoon, we hosted the monthly Missionary family pr.-iycr meeting togetlicr. Saturday -- 'llic shop was open in tJie morning and the sermon
wris llnalized ;itid typed up. Later we visii':<i two pinnt nurseries to locate and Iniy Hydrangea shrubs for planting in front of the shop, and a number of bags of potting s for the planter. While we were fliiislnng iliese tasks, the phono rang and Becky iiifortued us tli.it their neighbor, Johaan's father, had shot himself. He died nunli later in hospital and I was first asked to conduct the funeral, but eventually it was dccided that they wc^uld have the funci;il liere at the Centre, but that they would ask Gerrard D'Alton to take charge as he is Afrikaans speaking and the extended faniily would certainly have resented a English language funeral. Sunday was a busy day, for which our good friends Veronica and Jonnie visited worship with two of their

children. 'I'hey and some of our grandchildren plus Rhonda's friend, stayed for dinner and part of the afternoon. The evening services also had a visitor, Heather Christie. Heather is one of the members of tin; Wednesday evening Hible studies at the home of Veronica and Jonnie. Monday - still part of the long week end holiday, wc really got stuck into odds and ends here at the biiilding, tiling the public toilet in tlu". shop, as well as our entrance steps, hung a bath towel ro<l in the upstairs bath, finished the jxiitition ready for the door (o be hung at the entrance of our "privoir" area upstairs, mid covcred a west-facing window in the stair well with plastic "stainedglass" roll plastic sheeting.
Ihe South African elections are in three weeks time and, as you probably kin'v, ihere have been two or three homeland govonnnents overthrown, and violent uprisings in central Johannesburg and in Natiil. Alberton has been put on "emergency" standing twice, and there have been all sort.s of warnings circulating that wc must have emergency supplies on hand; things that do not depend on cooking, freezing, or water as power and water supplies ini{;l<i be cut under unrest conditions. Cellular phones went on line a few days ago, and 1 understand theie was a rush to buy tli .'in as they are not dependent on wires and hopefully will have emergency generatois at the relay stations. We are not going cellular, but we do have some emergency

food, water, Ciuidles and firewood, etc., enough for a few days. Stores arc also keeping low slocks, 'lliis morning's paper carricd the news that boili Britain and Potiiigal were selling up plans for the einer|?.(^ncy evacuation of their citizens if need be. 'Ihe United S!:ttcs comments were that they always have an plan for emergencies but that there arc only about 20,000
Americans in the country in any case. Wc pray that it will never come to that and trust that God will take care of His own. In fact this mornings paper carries a story line of a Police Colonel's inaycr in which ht- tells of having a vision of an angel calling for diy land lo be united in prayer for pericc. Tomorrow is being set aside for th.-i' !iurpo.se. I was somewhat amazed that lliis was a front page story in a national paper that is no; very Christian in its normal atiiinde.

Now that we lu'pe to be finished with moving the two households and the Tract t^'eiitre, we have placed a "for sale" sign on the Bible Van and [)lan to do Uie same with the camper trailer, and perhaps even some of the other equipment that we no litnger use or should replace with newer and more efficient. We did not really want to sell the camper, but when we sell the vim, we will have nothing really heavy enough to tow it safely. I certainly do not want to tow with a car that is too light weight
and low powered.

Phyllis was hosting a Prayer Tea here this morning, but one of the cars broke down on the way here so they packed up their things and all of them went to Veronica's home to continue. She has just relumed and fixed our lunch, always eaten al the
"tea" table al the back of the shop. It has not been an exceptionally busy day sliop wise, but it is sandwiched in between yesterday which was a holiday, and tomorrow which is another. We praise God for you and your continued prayersl

Dear Co-worker, 1 July, 1994

I am sure that you will find this hard to believe about Africa, but my hands are numb with the cold, and our water pipes have all been frozen every morning for several days! Much of the country to the South has been blanketed with snow. Ihey say it melted as it touched the ground here. That is hard to believel I absolutelymust get a more efficient heatert All I have at the moment is a tiny fan^eater under the desk. I asked about bottle gas this morning, only to find that they are sold out of them. (Probably for the season.)
This month we took care of the final item on our list of alterations on the lYact

FROM OUR

MISSIONARIES

Centre buildings, so now it will be "building maintenance" items, and it looks like IN SOUTH AFRICA heating might be a priorityl The sale of our hmie was at last fuialized this month and we used a tithe of the sale price to replace the mission's postage meter and l^otocopier, and added a new computer with sullicient memory to handle the desk-top publishing and Word Perfect programs without flatly refusing. Ihe old one is in the church office where I woik on sermons and address letters, has a daisy wheel printer that is much better for addresses.

We printed two booklets this month, but have been working a lot on typing the Venda translations that have been arriving regularly every few days, the month's tumover of Bible correspondence lessons, and a stack of new applications. One larger translation has taken days and days of work already. It is booklet number twenty in Venda and I have two more manuscripts ready to start work on. An addedproblon with Venda is that it has severaltypesof accent marks that have to be penned in by hand as no computer can do them on the right letters! Phyllis and Shannon are working on DVBS plans, and Shannon will be assisting with that both here in Alberton at Central Christian and at Kimberley Road in Johannesburg. He has already helped with a black camp, at the Bible College, and preached here. I have plans to make use of him for door to door literature distribution here in Albeiton, and he still has to visit two other missicm centers to work with them for a while. While Cinda is away this month he will be taking care of the joint youth meetings for Central and Kimberley Road where he is jH-eaching this Sunday. Next Sunday he is attending the diurch at

Dobsonville, personal safety permitting. Brotho- Ndamasa, the minister therehad his beautiful pick up truck taken at gunpoint right from his own front door a few weeks ago! Gannon has also been assisting with our monthly old folk's home visits. We do want to thank those of you who havehelped with the expenseof his coming during the College Summer break. He expects to fly back to Nebraska in mid-August; then his next trip should be when he r^ms in two years to help With the worii: on a permanent basis and relieve us of some of our work load, the Lord permitting. This past Saturday, a large group of well
wishers gathered here to give him a big "Haj^y 21st Birthday!"

A phone call this morning reminded me that Johannesburg is to host the dAll Africa Missionary Conference (Church of Christ
and Christian Churdi) in 1995 and it is time to start laying plans. Already the first conference center contacted was booked, but

AletheiaChristian Centre is to be entirely redecorated beforethen so Stu Cookhas offered that free of cfaaige as a place to hold the me^ings and have meals, and will contact a hotel that is about a half blockaway, about prices, etc. That particularhotel does not accqA advance bookingsso I assume that it is first come first served. There is a similarhotel about tiuw blocks away from the "Gospel Tiact Centre Plaza", not to mention three shopping malls for Missionaries from more remote parts of Africa. Stu also asked about us having the youth sleeping in sleepingbags on the floor, here and the diurch buildingfor youth services in the evenings. During the day they would go to places like "Wild Waters", the ice rink or "Ihe Crown Mines Recreatiimal Centre" as a group. I think it is a three day afiiair. We will have to have a meeting to discuss details of die p-ogram, speakers,
and so foith. Some of us just had that sort of planningmeeting here at the Plaza to plan the details of the South African Church

of Christ Mission Conference, for next month. This year Phyllis and I plan to closethe shq) and go for a part of that as the women want to honour dieh- "Mother Mills" and have adced for us to te diere. Tlieyalso assigned me a workshopto teach cai

less than a weekl Today, after numerous

promises, excuses, and admitted lapses of memory, they came back. It has been over four months since we returned them and we have been sitting on chairs that should have been taken to the city dump ages ago. The only reason these were retimed now is that several weeks ago 1 sent copies of the receipts and a tetter of complaint to the newspaper who would have printed a "Thumbs Down" letter for that majorchain store and
La-Z-Boy if they were not honoured quickly.

it Is considerably warmer here now than last month. The birds even think it is spring time. If the evenings just get a few degrees warmer, I will do some of the dark room work for that great pile of typesetting I have been accumulating during the really cold weather. Other things keep intruding as well. This morning I spent the whole morning searching out information for the publication, "Books in Print in South Africa." They had not bothered to enter the languages into their computer, so now they sent a print out and wanted me to fill in the blank language column. They gave the title and the International Standard Book Number, which i don't have In my catalogue, but not my catalogue number, so I had to pull copies from my shelves in alphabetical order and
check the numbers on the booklet itself. That was no small job, but it is done now and I posted their paper
back to them.

I also took three parcels of books of our own pubBcations to the post office for customers, and now I'm busy

with the August news letter. The day will soon lie over and Iwon't be finished.
Shannon is in MafeWng witii Phil and Roxana Smitii this week. This is expected to be his last trip out of town, then he has to get busy getting things finalized for his return to Nebraska Christian Coiiege where he will be a Junior this year. He will be departing on the same flight taken by Jacob and Nila Michaers son and daughter who are returning to CincinattI Bibie Coiiege from Mozambique, and perhaps his own sister Rhonda, i understand that her father is sending her a one way ticket to come stay with him and his wife in Ohio. Shannon had a busy stay in South Africa. At least two of the missionaries, other than i, have been picking his mind on computer problems and programming they need done. He has brought the sermon in English and Afrikaans, and through two interpreters at one time, and attended services and taken part in at least eight or ten different churches and Umzumbe Bible Institute. He also taught in two different DVB Schools and participated in visits to The Old People's Home, evening Bible Studies and taught the Meeting for us. I was sorry that he was
out of town for the funeral this week. I doubt if he has been to a funeral.

Dear Co-Wori:ers, September, 94

Praise the Lord, He cares for His own! Over a month ago, I had a very hard fall in the chapel. It could easily have been fatal,
but as it was I seem to have broken a few ribs and bruised my chest badly. I still can not bear sleeping on my left side and

sitting up or lying down has been very painilil for a while. All the ribs, save one, seem to be healed, perhaps the others were
onlycracked. I didn't bother with a doctor as I figured there was little he could do anyway.

This has also been an expensive month with the dentist doing two crowns and a root canal, which involved several very long
visits. He now wants to clean, but may get the brush off. I would rather have the root canal done than a dental cleaning!

We enjoyed a very good trip to Postmasbui^, though very tiring. Even driving ^ the maximum speed limit of 120 km/hr most
of the time it took us over seven hours each direction. This time, we stayed in the only motel in the small town.

The women ofthe conference had a lovely party for Phyllis and also for Mrs Mahlinza, as she and her husband are going on pension this year. He is the last ofthe ministers who was here w^en we arrived over forty years ago to retire. Most of the rest are now deceased. I taught my class as requested and we left immediately to return so that we could make ready for
tomorrow's church services.

I have finished the typesetting on hand, and have managed to get three of the new Venda language booklets and a Tsonga one printed and onto the shelves, as well as die color portion ofthe covers done for seven others. While the press had ink on it, I also printed tracts for free street distribution in seven ofthe official languages and the other four are now on film. That is about 10,000 tracts sq far. Over two thousand, mostly Xhosa and Tswana, were taken at conference and those will have to be reprinted next week. The Risograph conpany is to bring one of their new printers for a demonstration today. I almost regret having permitted this as I do not think I am going to be satisfied with the quality ofwork itdoes. Asimilar, but used, machine
was demonstrated to me last week and I was not at all satisfied with it.

In an experimental trial, I ran about fifty copies of the newest catalog on our photocopier. The catalog is a sixteen page booklet, and the local agency has been tr^g to persuade mc that this would be cheaper than printing. Because ofrecent price changes on all the basic supplies, I did a new "costing estimate and comparison" on the variable materials for both offset and the copier. I have to admit that I like the quality, the cleanliness, and the fact that so much is completely automated with a heavy duty, double sided, copier. Even the pictures were acceptable, but the copier is only cheapcr on short runs. If there are 500 to 1000 copies made, the "service charge" for toner and maintenance makes It far more costly than ihe ink, metal plates, film negatives and chemicals needed for ofTsetl Those are really the only variables. (Not considering that most of my

equipment is in very sad state of repair.) Those items cost three to four times what they used to cost, but spread over five hundred to a thousand copies of a booklet are a small percentage of the total cost. The big advantage is space saved, cleanliness, and convenience, cutting out several steps, the dark room, and using a lighter weight paper than our ofTsel will
handle. If one could just cut out the .034 cents per sheet service charge!

Toward the end ofthe winter, we finally gave in and had a large vented bottle gas heater installed in the Bible Shop. It is not really large enough for the size of the area, but is certainly a blessing and takes the chill off enough to work reasonably comfortably. They say this was the coldest winter in thirty years. Anyway, now Spring is ofTicially here and we have not used it for a few weeks. In fact, the public swimming pool is already opened for the adventurous. I, personally, am far from that
adventurous! The fruit trees are filled with blossom, and our Namaqualand daises are in ftiQ blossom, and the lilies will soon be

fully open. Alberton celebrated its Spring carnival last week end, and we watched the most fantastic fire works from our

upstairs sitting room window. They were only two blocks away from us and at times the whole window view was filled with
rocket bursts. We only took a walk through the flea market area on Saturday afternoon. Apparently, trade there was a
disappointment. We certainly bought nothing at all.

Business is bad everywhere as major strikes have been the order of the day. The automobile factories are at a standstill, the supermarkets were all but closed for a while; truckers blocked the toll highways for miles atseveral points in the country, and some area hospitals had to close down for weeks because the staff had abandoned their patients. All these things result in price
rises to make up for losses. Now the schools in some areas have closed.

I do apol gize for the latenes of"recent leters but

unfortunately can not promise any better service in

the future. The country has been all but paralyzed by strikes everywhere and the post office service has deteriorated, but struggles on. The news last night showed piles of mail bags awaiting sorting in the main sorting centers. (That is better than the great pile they found down a sewer a few weeks ago!) I have posted hundreds of Bible study lesson
packets this past week as well as the newcatalog. Hopefully, they will be delivered.

At a time when all our printing equipment is getting very worn, the Lord set us Sean, who demonstrated a RIsograph digital duplicator. 1really had my doubts about it. Ihad seen another brand second-hand machine and was not happy with the quality. This machine was delivered one morning and that afternoon Sean came and showed me the basic operation of it. He then said, "1 am leaving it with you. Print something you want printed. The men will pick it up
tomorrow." I took him at his word, bought some paper, and printed five hundred copies of our sixteen page catalog

plus the cover which had photographs both front and back. That was so exciting, Icarried on and printed 500 copies of another booklet, a thousand copies of a tract, and 4000 booklet covers! The speed, the ease of operation, the quality, and the total lack of spoiled pages absolutely sold me on it! Added to that, it does not need a dark room, film, or printing plates. Iam sure that he did not really mean me to go "hog-wild" with his new machine, but Ijust worked till 1was out of paper. Afew days later 1phoned him and placed an order for our own. We had hoped to get it immediately, but unfortunately, it has to come from the factory in Japan so it will be sent by a container ship
expected to arrive in late November, the Lord willing.

much to Phyllis' joy, as it had been set up in the passage to the toilet. That was the only accessible place that could be darkened sufficiently. Ihope to be able to sell the rest before the end of November as we will need approximately $10,000 then and have about half of that in the bank. Sean has assured me that if 1have any printing I need to do,
he will send me another demonstrator or will divert someone else's order should they happen to cancel at the last

In the meantime, 1am advertising our old equipment for sale in the paper. One phone call sold the entire dark room,

moment. 1plan to get lots of paper and take him up on that offer. Those four thousand covers need the pages to go into them, and 1need to reprint several languages of the special tracts. If Ican get it in time, I might justdo this letter
on it as well. I have to buy envelopes before I can post it anyway.

Phyllis' couples Bible Study class has started a new study: this time Philippians. One family dropped out, but have
continued to come to church at Central Christian, and a new couple has started the class in their place. They are

about our own age. His son-in-law is a non-instrument Church of Christ preacher. Heather, from that class as well, also attends Central Christian on the nights she is working at one of the restaurants in Alberton. Do keep us in prayer that the Lord will bless the church with new people. Especially mention Val and Hendry as well as our grandsons, Thomas. Sean, and Clinton, and granddaughter Nikkie. Shannon is back at Nebraska Christian College.

Dear Co-Workers, November 94

We praise the Lord for His care over Phyllis. Earlier this month, she was attending a Mini-Conference of the area Christian's Women's Clubs, when she slipped and fell on the wet bricks of a ramp at the entrance. She fell in a sitting position and is very badly bruised but broke no bones, unless it was the tail bone, however she has been in
considerable pain, and still eases herself into bed or a chair very carefully.

We hope our printed envelopes will hasten delivery of our letters. This was one of the jobs I printed on the Risograph that was left overnight for a demonstration trial last month. Our own machine should be on the high seas on the way from Japan by

those loose pages into booklets, stapling, and folding them was a much bigger; back breaking job. There were times when my shoulders and back hurt so badly I had to do something totally different for a while before I could continue. I am thankful that theyare now all put together and placed intheir storage boxes or on the shop shelves now. While 1was finding room for the new boxes In the basementstore room, Ichecked for nearly empty boxes and have found several. Two whole twenty foot shelves of boxes had to be shifted when I also found that some boxes had been left out of the numbered sequence! That was a dusty job Iam happy to have finished. In the very middle of all of this, a nasty letter arrived from the National Library archives reminding me that I had neglected to post them Uieir
copies! (I actually found receipte from them for some of those.)

While I was In a clearing away mood, the printing sht^ area also got its attention. The work bench Is so empty that even Phyllis noticed and commented on it. The main negative and master copy files were all pulled out of the file drawers and replaced In numerical orderso it Is far easier to find a particular file. When I did that, Idiscovered some are missing and that the books they represent will have to be re-typed before they can be re-printed. Oh joy! Ishould have already bought material, and "bought, begged, or borrowed" a radial arm or bench saw so that 1could start building matching display shelves to those we already have. We have all but reached the limit to how many books we can display properly. Unfortunately, the materials will cost about $600 and the cheapest saw would be at

least that much again If 1have to buy it Having gone far Into the red to place the order for the printer, I have held
back in this as not being absolutely necessary yet.
