Philippe Garner, International Head of Photographs: Kate Moss From the Collection of Gert Elfering attracted worldwide attention and admiration, from the announcement of the auction through to the presale exhibition and sale itself. Gert Elferings unique and visionary concept of this sale a celebration of the great modern muse Kate Moss presented the work of a range of photographers, several featuring for the first time at auction, and explored spectacular formats unfamiliar to the market. While the top prices were achieved by established artists, many notably strong results and record prices for the artist were secured for works by younger talents including Chris Levine, Mert & Marcus, and David Sims. The sale has provided an exceptional testament to Kate Moss, as the greatest icon of style of the modern age. Christies are delighted by the response of existing and new clients to this event, and by the scale of the global medi a coverage which it has attracted.
