Daniel Galindo Gonzlez Alfonso Peduto Eden Rayz Aseem Suri

Law 1. F = 0 = k Every body perseveres in its state of being at rest or of moving uniformly straight forward except insofar as it is compelled to change its state by forces impressed. Law 2. F = ma A change in motion is proportional to the motive force impressed and takes place along the straight line in which that force is impressed. Law 3. F1 = -F2 The common center of gravity of two or more bodies does not change its state whether of motion or of rest as a result of the actions of the bodies upon one another. Voltage Ramon Castillo Sandeep Das

We wanted to give Sandeep an opportunity to control some of the effects in our rig. However, we ran into the problem that his hands tend to be awfully busy. So with a little programming, a bit of screaming (for testing purposes) and pounding (also testing), Ramon managed to rig up a little something that allows Sandeep to control some effects with his tabla and his voice. Through a variety of processes, any sound Sandeep makes is converted into voltage, effectively controlling the knobs of the Moogerfoogers among other things. Down PoChun Wang is a dark, deep experience. An intense conversation between the tabla and the violin, the synthesis moderates what would otherwise be an argument. The piece begins with a slow, free melody on the violin. It evolves to an excited and heated exchange and at times can get quite violent. The timbre of the violin and the synthesizer is manipulated in real time using drum pads to control an analog filter.

Ohm is a fairly traditional work featuring a prominent melody and a drone partially generated by components of the melody. Tradition subsides, however, as the timbre of the acoustic instruments gradually shifts into unexpected territory. Mbira Loops/Bols+

Ramon Castillo

Ryan and Ramon have performed Mbira Loops on a number of occasions; we now combine the original piece with an offshoot for tabla. The underlying frameworks for these pieces are simple, but have the potential to unlock complicated rhythmic relationships and timbal shifts. We start with a blank slate, loops of various lengths are recorded, and various temporal transformations take place. It's different every time, and half the fun is exploring the unknown.
