life-long responsible citizenship by providing experimental learning for high
school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

How It Works: Its so simple there is no excuse not to finish!
Complete a card and submit it to The Decatur Family YMCA before October 16th.
Collect your STRONG band and tools.
Complete 24 STRONG challenges (roughly 15-20 minutes each).
Identify and conquer your individual STRONG challenge.
Track your challenges with the provided STRONG card and stickers
Wear your STRONG band and support others in their challenge!
Join us for a fun filled evening on October 24, 2013 as your favorite
local celebrities serve you dinner. Cocktail hour begins at 5 p.m.
with dinner at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided along with a silent and
live auction. Tickets are only $50 and proceeds benefit the Strong Kids Cam-

The Decatur Family YMCA offers Personal Training for members and prospec-
tive members. All Personal Trainers are certified and/or have a degree in their
field of training. One time sessions or multiple session packages are available
to fit any budget or time frame.

For anyone looking to make a change in their current health. Scheduled
times with a personal trainer in a small group setting helps you reach your
goals without the intimidation of being in the larger wellness center.

CAMP SOKKIA
Camp Sokkia is a traditional summer camp where
kids play outside, swim, go on field trips and make
new friends. The Camp is based at the Y, but takes
weekly field trips to Fairview Park, Spittler Woods
and Rock Springs. Other field trips include the St.
Louis Zoo, local swimming pools, parks and so
much more. Camp Sokkia is open to kids who are
entering 1st grade through 9th grade. For more in-

Once again, lunch will be provided.

Intro to Basic Dance
Introduction to dance class is perfect for all those
little dancers! Children will learn the basics of
contemporary dance as well as hip hop and jazz.
Dancers will learn basic stretches, warm-ups,
floor routines and a beautiful combination to
show off their talents.

Parent Child Dance Class
Grab your child and join us for a parent and child
dance class. We will teach you and your child all
of the fun and goofy party dance songs like the
twist, the electric slide, YMCA and Thriller. This
class is a great way to get some energy out and
spend a little time with your child.

Social Dancing
Do you have a fear of dancing in public? Or are
you looking to brush up on the latest dance craze
for the next wedding you attend. Social dance
class covers basic line dances, popular dance like
the YMCA, basic partner dancing and so much
more. This class will be a great class to burn
some calories and brush up on your dancing
skills.

Razor Hybrid Classes utilize cable equipment and the Razor Hybrid Crossover with body weight in a

Razor Hybrid crossover incorporates strength movements with core fitness to change the way you

Wiggles & Giggles
Creative Dance for children ages 3-5 years old.
Appropriate for both boys and girls. Wiggles &
Giggles classes are innovative, educational, and
most importantly, FUN! Wiggles & Giggles will
provide a safe and fun extracurricular movement
program for children.

League
Brand new 4 on 4 league for Y

PORPOISE CLUB
New for Fall 2013. For the swimmer that has completed at
least the Fish level successfully but isnt ready for Swim
Team. This class focuses on endurance, water skills and tech-
nique.

School Days Out
What do you do when you have to work but your child is out of school?
The Ys School Age Care Program provides all day care for your school age child most holidays, scheduled school days off
and snow days. This is included in the price of the Before and After School Program or
parents can choose to register for only the School Days Out Program, which includes: a safe and healthy
environment, fun and educational trips, professional staff, two daily snacks, lunch and swimming.

Parents' Night Out
Parents, enjoy some adult time and be assured your children
will have a blast in a safe, caring, fun environment. Kids
enjoy four hours filled with games, crafts, sports and mov-
ies. Best of all, well provide dinner for your kids!

All Parents Nights Out are from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Children must be ages 5-13 and potty trained.

Family Fun Night
Join us for Family Fun Night, the 3rd Friday of each month.
At 6:30 p.m. we put on a movie in the
Family Pool and have Float-n-Flick. Snacks and board

New to the 2013-2014 school year we will be implementing a
new curriculum to our program. The Creative Curriculum
along with Teaching Strategies Gold will enable the teachers
to plan and implement a content-rich, developmentally
appropriate program that supports active learning and pro-
motes childrens progress in all developmental areas and
prepares them for Kindergarten.
Busy Bee
This class is designed to teach children about the importance of nutrition and being active. It is a high-energy class. Kids are
encouraged to move. Comfortable clothes and tennis shoes are required!

Kobudo
Kobudo is the sister art of Karate that uses "weapons.
This is an excellent form of exercise. It improves the

Youth Fit Coach
This program features one-on-one training for youth.
Similar to the adult Personal Trainer, this is a tailored
program for the individual needs of the youth, whether
sport skills, weight loss or just healthier living.

Jujitsu
Jujitsu is a grappling art containing joint locks, submis-
sions, ground fighting, throws and striking skills. This
martial art develops falling and tumbling skills, im-
proves strength and flexibility and emphasizes disci-
pline, respect, honor & integrity.

Gators Swim Team
The Gators Swim Team is open to youth ages 5-21.
Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of
both the front and back crawl. All swimmers must
be Y members. New swimmers are always
welcome.

Y-Zone/Youth Strength Gym
A place for youth 6-13 years of age to work-out on
equipment their own size, play on the sports wall,

Fall LazyMan
Winding down from the triathlon season or had your interest
piqued by races this summer? LazyMan is a great way to
either put your season to bed or to get your feet wet with
the disciplines of triathlon to see if this might be for you.

lenge yourself and double or triple the fun!

2 Miles to MILES
This is the 14th Annual New Years Eve 5K race/ 2K walk/fun
run at 2 pm hosted by the Y. The race starts at the Y, winds
through the neighborhood and in front of DMH and then on to
Miles Nissan on an out-and-back course.

Triathlon Coaching
Planning ahead for next year or interested in getting started but dont know where to begin? A triathlon coach may be what
you need to get off to a great start or to take your training to another level. A basic 12-week training plan starts at $75,

Martial Arts Classes and Programs
Jujutsu
Jujutsu is a martial art developed by the Japanese samurai for use in the
event that the warrior was disarmed on the battlefield. It is a grappling art
containing joint locks, submissions, ground fighting, throws and striking skills.
This martial art develops falling and tumbling skills, improves strength and
flexibility, and emphasized discipline, respect, honor, and integrity. Taught
by a master black belt. Open to ages 13+.
Kobudo
Kobudo is the art of weaponry. Hands on training with many different tradi-
tional weapons will be included. Class is open to beginners and martial artists
from any style.

Karate
This time honored method involving sparring, kicking, striking and blocking
develops self-discipline and inner strength.

Qi Gong*
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese method of longevity. These exercises are easy
on the body and help improve digestive health, blood circulation, flexibility,
reduce stress, strengthen muscles, increase the range of joint motion and
give an overall feeling of inner peace and healthfulness.

T'ai Chi*
Chinese form of exercise that focuses on physical and mental balance, which
increases strength and coordination using gentle, flowing movement.

Yoga*
Traditional, safe and non-competitive workout for the mind and body.
Yoga gives you balance, strength and flexibility in a peaceful environ-

Pilates*
You will focus on stress relief, core strength and flexibility in this low
impact class that is designed to give you a dancers lines, grace and
strength.

Core Conditioning
This 20 or 45 minute class provides a challenging workout for the
Abdominals, lower back & glutes.

PIYO
Is a unique class designed to build strength & gain flexibility. The
moves fit perfectly together to form a class filled with intense choreog-
raphy thats fun, challenging and will make you sweat. Think sculpted
abdominals, increased overall core strength and greater stability.

Salsa Cardio
A cardiovascular workout which combines the rhythm and footwork of
Latin dance in a traditional aerobic class format.

Zumba
A fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that
create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness program. The routines fea-
ture aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow
rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

Zumba but a little slower pace for beginners or active older adults.

Active Older Adult
SilverSneakers*
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to
increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living
skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for
resistance; a chair is used for seated and/or standing support
