MAXILLARY CENTRAL INCISOR Labial Aspect

-diamond shaped -tip of cusp distal to center of crown MANDIBULAR CENTRAL INSCIOR

-MD diameter greater than cer-inc length (opposite for permanent) -incisal edge nearly straight -no developmental lines -root cone-shaped even tapered sides -root length greater (ratio of permanent) Lingual Aspect -well-developed marginal ridges -highly developed cingulum(extends up toward incisal ridge) -> mesial and distal fossa -root narrows lingually -flatter labially -cross section at CEJ- triangular Mesial and Distal Aspects -distal curvature of cervical line less than mesial -mesial root have a developmental groove or concavity -distal of root convex Incisal Aspect -incisal edge centered over main bulk of crown, straight -labial surface smoother -lingual tapers to cingulum MAXILLARY LATERAL INCISOR -similar to max. CI in all aspects except dimensions -crown smaller in all directions -cer-inc length greater than its MD width (crown) -distoincisal angles more rounded than CI -longer root MAXILLARY CANINE Labial Aspect -does not resemble CI or LI -crown more constricted -M and D surfaces more convex -sharp cusp -larger and sharper than permanent -contact areas (tip of cusp to cervix) -mesial slope longer than distal slope -root twice of crown Lingual Aspect -pronounced enamel ridges w/c merge -cingulum, MMR, DMR, incisal cusp ridges, tubercle at cusp tip, lingual ridge, mesiolingual fossa, DLF -root tapers lingually, inclined distally Mesial Aspect -similar to LI and CI, but greater la-li at C3 which permits resistance against forces the tooth width Distal Aspect -reverse of mesial -lesser curvature of cervical line than mesial Incisal Aspect

Labial Aspect -flat face, no devtal grooves -resembles perm. Max. LI -crown wide in proportion to length -root almost twice crown length Lingual Aspect -lingual fossa -more narrow toward lingual -incisal ridge centered over center of root Mesial Aspect -convexity more pronounced at C3 -almost same length of la-li (w/ permanent) Distal Aspect -reverse of mesial -less curvature of cervical line than mesial -devtal depression on distal side of root Incisal Aspect -incisal ridge is straight, bisects crown la-li -tapers lingually -labial slightly convex -lingual flat, slightly concave MANDIBULAR LATERAL INCISOR -similar to primary CI -larger -cingulum more -lingual more concave -incisal ridge slop downward distally MANDIBULAR CANINE -functional form identical to maxillary canine -different dimensions -crown and root shorter -MD measurement at root trunk is greater -thicker at neck of tooth -max. larger la-li -max is has more pronounced cervical ridges -distal cusp slope longer than mesial MAXILLARY FIRST MOLAR Buccal Aspect -widest at contact areas -converges toward cervix -occ line slightly scalloped but no definite cusp form -little evidence of devtal grooves -act as compromise bet. Size and shape of ant. Prim. Teeth and molar area -roots are slender and spread widely(all seen from Bu) -distal root shorter than mesial root -bifurcation almost at cervical line *trifurcation Lingual Aspect -similar to bu aspect -converges in lingual direction -MLC most prominent longest and sharpest

-DLC- poorfly defined, small and rounded, *absent -DBC-longer and better devt than DLC -lingual root larger than others -*can be one large LC only w/ no grooves(3 cusped molar) Mesial Aspect -C3 greater dimension than O3 *true for all, more pronounced on prim. -MLC longer and sharper than MBC -convexity at C3 on Bu -cervical line towards occlusal Distal Aspect -narrower distally than mesially -tapers towards distal end -DBC sharp -DLC poorly developed Occlusal Aspect -converges lingually -converges distally -nearly rectangular -shortest sides : Marginal ridges -central fossa -mesial triangular dossa -mesial pit -central groove -buccal developmental groove >divides MBC DBC -supplemental grooves -one buccal, one lingual, one toward MR -oblique ridge -distal developmental groove >may not extend to lingual summary: -resembles max. premolar (perm) MAXILLARY SECOND MOLAR
