These slippers make a
great stash -buster
project!
Materials:
Bulky weight yarn or 2 strands
of DK (light worsted weight
yarn) held together in colors of
choice approx. 150 grams
Crochet hook size I (5.50 mm)
or size needed to obtain guage
Optional buttons for ladies
slippers
Needle & Thread
Pattern Notes:
Sample slippers used 2 strands of DK
or light worsted weight yarn held
together throughout, but bulky or
chunky weight yarn could easily be
used instead - or some other
combination such as a single strand
of DK or worsted weight yarn, held
together with 1 or 2 strands of
fingering yarn.
Gauge = 7 hdc & 5 rows = 2
Ladies Cakewalk Slippers:
Rnd 1: Beginning at toe with
color(s) of choice, ch 4, sl st in 4
th
ch
from hook to form a ring. Ch 2, 9
hdc in ring. Join with sl st to top of
beg ch-2. (10 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc in
next st, 2 hdc in next st) around.
Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (15
hdc)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 2 hdc in
next st, (hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in
next st) around. Join with sl st to top
of beg ch-2. (20 hdc)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc
in next st, (hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc
in next st) around. Join with sl st to
top of beg ch-2. (25 hdc)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in each st around.
Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (25
hdc)
Rnds 6-7: Repeat rnd 5.
Fasten off now, if you wish to change
colors, and join new color of choice
with sl st in any st of rnd 7.
Rnds 8-9: Repeat rnd 5.
Note: You may work additional rnds
of hdc at this point, if you desire the
toe to come up higher on the foot.
Begin working in rows:
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in next 18 sts. Ch
2, turn. (19 hdc)
Row 2: Hdc in each st across. Ch 2,
turn. (19 hdc)
Remaining rows: Repeat row 2 until
slipper reaches desired length.
Measure entire slipper from top of
toe to end of heel. Refer to size chart
provided, or use your own foot to
measure. Do not fasten off.
Heel:
Fold last row of slipper in half so
seam will appear on inside (WS) of
heel and sew together with sl st to
form heel. Ch 1, turn and sl st back
along seam just made to top of
ankle.
Edging:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, working in ends of hdc
rows and in remaining 6 sts at top of
toe, sc evenly around. (Tip: Work
(sc in end of next row, 2 sc in end
of next row) along sides of slipper
and 1 sc per each st at top of toe.)
Join with sl st to 1
st
sc.
Rnd 2: Sl st in each st around. Join
with sl st at end of rnd and fasten
off.
Finishing: Sew button in place at
outside top of toe, positioning as
desired.

Mens Penny Loafer Slippers:
Rnds 1-4: Work as per rnds 1-4 of
Ladies Cakewalk Slippers. (25 hdc)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc
in next st, (hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc
in next st) around. Join with sl st to
top of beg ch-2. (30 hdc)
Rnd 6: Ch 2, hdc in each st around.
Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2.
Rnds 7-13: Repeat rnd 6.
Fasten off at this point, if you wish to
change colors to create stripes, and
join new color with sl st in any st of
rnd 13.
Begin working in rows:
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in next 21 sts. Ch
2, turn. (22 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st across.
Ch 2, turn.
Remaining rows: Repeat row 2,
changing colors as desired. For
sample slippers I changed colors after
every 2 rows to create 3 stripes.
Work until slippers reach desired
length. Refer to size chart or use feet
to measure. Measure slippers from
top of toe to end of heel.

Heel:

Fasten off, leaving a longer length of
yarn to sew penny loafer strap to top
of slipper. Whip stitch strap in place
at center top of slipper.
