C.

2.02

PERFORMANCE A. Coils shall be selected to provide the duties and performance as indicated in the Schedules.

2.03

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION A. Provide extended surface type coils with tubes of copper or brass to ASTM B75, and plate or helical fins of copper. Space fins 14 per inch (1.80mm) maximum. Helical fins may be crimped. Maximum Face Length, 3 m per section. Mount coil section in galvanized steel casing to ASTM A526 designed for bolting to other sections or ductwork.

B. C. D.

2.04

ELECTRIC HEATING COILS A. Coil shall be of the sheathed element type with low surface temperature (black heat). Elements shall be finned tubular type with copper plated steel fins brazed to copper plated steel sheath or as specified in the detailed bill of quantity. Frame shall be 18 gage galvanized steel to ASTM A526. Provide high temperature control to de-energize elements and protection against no flow or low air flows, shorts and grounds and failure of protection devices.

B.

C. D.

2.05

HEATING AND COOLING COILS A. B. Design for 1400 KPa and 100 degrees C. Coils shall be factory leak tested at 2160 KPa. Provide moisture eliminator of 24 gage (0.60 mm) galvanized steel to ASTM A526 or plastic. Provide drip pan and drain connection for each coil section.

Fabricate coil headers from steel- or copper tube. Provide cleanable water cooling coils fabricated with straight tubes and steel heads or cleanout plugs in return bend at end of each return. EXECUTION

PART 3 3.01

INSTALLATION A. Support coil sections on steel channel or double angle frames and secure to casings. Arrange supports for cooling coils to avoid piercing or short circuiting drip pans. Bolt casings to other sections, ductwork, or unit casings. Provide airtight seal between coil and duct or unit cabinets. Make connections to coils, including valves air vents, unions, and connections from drip pans. Provide gate valve on supply line and lock shield globe valve on return line from each water coil. Locate water supply at air leaving and return water connection at air entering side (counterflow principle). Provide air vents at high points complete with vent valve. Ensure water coils are drainable and make drain connection at low points. Protect coils so fins and flanges are not damaged. Replace loose and damaged fins. Comb out bent fins. Level serpentine coils and install cleanable tube coils with 1:50 pitch.
