Build a Fossil!
When kids find out that fearsome creatures called dinosaurs once ruled the earth, it's easy to get them interested. But does your child know that fossils are the reason we know all about dinosaurs? A fun fossil activity is just the way to get your child entertained and educated. This activity works well with a group or just with a parent and child, and it can make a great party game since it's both fun and inexpensive.
Have your child(ren) stand at one end of the room. Ask your child to move towards you like a specific dinosaur. Heres a list of movements to get your started. You and your child can research other dinosaurs and creatures and add to this list.
SPRINT like an Ornithomimus GLIDE like a Microraptor SLITHER like a Sanajeh STOMP like a T. rex!
(a dinosaur with long thin legs for sprinting or running really fast) (a small bird-like dinosaur that could move smoothly through the air) (a prehistoric snake that slithered or slid around on its belly) (a powerful dinosaur who walked around with loud, heavy steps)
(a dinosaur that was good at diving deep underwater for fish) (like Tiny, Shiny, and Don, Pteranodons could fly through the air very easily)
(a squid-like creature who lived in the ocean and swam backwards) (a dinosaur with a large crest on top of its head that made a hooting sound like a horn)
