ENERGY 4 EARTH
Energy 4 Earth
Overview
Energy 4 Earth has been developed by a Central Queensland University Bachelor of Learning Management student in response to the Global Science course requirements. Energy 4 Earth seeks to promote community awareness surrounding global warming, carbon emission, nonrenewable and renewable energy sources and alternate solutions. Energy 4 Earth provides community members with online information and practical resources and ideas aimed to further understandings and actively reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. As 98% of scientists now agree that global warming is occurring and will have significant impacts around the globe, the time is now to explore what this means for you and all the wonders that are planet Earth (ABC News, 2013).
As overwhelming scientific evidence now concludes that human activities are responsible for global warming, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) (ABC, 2013) stresses the need for governments around the world to act immediately to reduce greenhouse gases significantly in the interest of saving planet Earth. In response to the IPCC findings, Federal Minister for the Climate Change, Heritage and the Environment, Hon Greg Hunt is reported to state that the Coalition accepts the scientific assessment published in the report and responded by identifying three areas in which practical action needs to be taken to counter climate change: 1. Take steps to reduce our domestic emissions. 2. Ensuring Australian has a national plan for adaptation to climate change. 3. Work with China and the United States, India and the [European Union] on the essence of an international agreement. The Coalition Government plans a 5% cut in carbon emissions through incentives based programs. The Government also plans to scrap $4 billion from renewable energy funding and is set to continue with its plan to abolish the Carbon Tax.
