Although awareness has been raised on the issue of hazing, it is still a huge problem in America, and is most prevalent on college campuses. While it may seem obvious to most that hazing is dangerous and not worth the risk, college students said otherwise when interviewed. Some common reasons for hazing are:

Most people associate hazing to be only within fraternities and sororities, when it is actually prominent among many more student groups, most common in varsity sport teams. Many incidents of hazing include physical assaults, scarification, sleep deprivation, and servile labor to name a few.

Although there are many hazing prevention programs on college campuses, the reality is that hazing is still a prominent practice among many students.
