Physician Job Description Physician Job Profile and Description The Physician is basically responsible for providing appropriate

timely assistance and advice to health care services. Generally, most physicians work constructively and collaboratively with other health professionals. The objective is to attain high standards of health care in their clinical expertise area. The duty includes instructing, monitoring, and advising junior medical officers or other health care professionals as appropriate. Duties and Responsibilities There are a wide range of duties and responsibilities which are required to be fulfill by a physician:

The physician has the prime duty to supervise the assessment. He or she has needs to do the investigating, and providing treatment to admitted patients. He or she has to share the health care duties of patients with other physicians properly. It is needed to ensure the availability of a physician at all times. He or she has to conduct the sufficient planned weekly ward rounds for monitoring care. It is needed to do the checking progress, and allowing early discharge of patients under care. He or she has to manage the outpatients and admitting them when necessary appropriately. He or she has to discuss with the patients in providing medical care for any planned absence. It is the duty to take care and advise the patients referred by other hospital specialist colleagues. He or she has the duty to admit the referrals to medical ward for appropriate investigation and treatment. He or she needs to issue a discharge summary to every patient prior to leaving the hospital.

It is needed to work with the other health care departments like Audio logy, X-Ray, Dental, Laboratory, Occupational Therapy. He or she has the duty to refer the patients to other hospitals concerning patient diagnostics or rehabilitation with best medical practice. He or she has the responsibility to ensure that the patients understand all treatments and procedures. He or she has to maintain the effective working relationships with patients without any cultural differences. It will be needed to discuss everything with medical officer regarding any complaints from patients relating to treatment. He or she has to provide the suggestions to the patients and staff regarding disease prevention and health promotion. It will be the responsibility to ensure the accurate maintenance of comprehensive medical records. The physician has to evaluate the selected medical records of patients, case notes and discharge letters of patients. It will be needed to fulfill the basic jobs such as instructing, guiding, and supervising junior medical staff. He or she has to take part actively in the teaching sessions for other hospital and medical staff. It is necessary to provide the proper reports, contributing to developing, budgeting, and planning the medical services. He or she has to suggest the new initiatives to assist in providing effective medical services.

Skills and Specifications The skills and specifications required to do the job are as follows:

The person needs to have the required knowledge of the practices and techniques of surgery and medicine. He or she should have required knowledge of laboratory techniques and methods with all the procedures. He or she should be able to conduct the medicals in emergencies.

The person needs to have the ability to maintain positive public relations properly. The person needs to have the proper ability to direct the other physicians and professional staff. It will be needed to have the superior communication skills both verbal and written. The person should have the ability to provide direct care in a kind and compassionate manner. The physician has the duty to respond appropriately even in stressful situations calmly according to the situation.

Education and Qualifications

The basic degree required for the job is a Medical degree from an accredited institution of medicine.
