KANDLA PORT TRUST

Invitation for Expression of Interest for Development of Multipurpose Cargo jetty (excluding Container, Liquid and Dry Bulk Cargo) off Tekra near Tuna at Kandla port on BOT basis. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE MULTI-CARGO JETTY (EXCLUDING CONTAINER, LIQUID AND DRY BULK CARGO) OFF TEKRA NEAR TUNA AT KANDLA PORT ON BOT BASIS:Kandla Port Trust in line with its continued initiatives for augmenting the cargo handling capacity has recently issued RFQ for Setting up of a Mega Container Terminal at TunaTekra on BOT Basis. For Dry Bulk Cargo, the implementation of Dry Bulk Terminal is also going on at site located off Tekra near Tuna. Recently an LOI has also been issued for Liquid Cargo Jetty cum Ship Bunkering Terminal at Old Kandla. Hence, now, Kandla Port Trust is exploring the possibility to develop a multi-cargo jetty for handling of cargo (excluding containers, liquids and dry bulk cargo) at a location tentatively being considered off Tekra near Tuna. A possibility is also being explored for considering handling of Panamax vessels with draught of 13 m. It is also being thought for providing adequate mechanization with appropriate cargo handling equipments, back up area and other ancillary infrastructure. Interested firms should send their Expression of Interest for Development of Multipurpose Cargo jetty (excluding Container, Liquid and Dry Bulk Cargo) off Tekra near Tuna at Kandla port on BOT basis. along with details of their Financial & Technical capability, Audited Balance sheet, Net Surplus etc. in closed cover to the Chief Engineer, Kandla Port Trust, Annex, A.O. Building, Gandhidham (Kutch), Gujarat 370201 Tel. No. (02836) 233192, Fax. No. +91 2836 220050 on or before 19.09.2013 upto 11.00 AM and same will be opened at 11.30 AM on same day. The scope, details and location drawing is enclosed for the reference. KANDLA PORT TRUST

Please also provide the detailed justification for your inputs in line with the market trends, technical standards, market dynamics, etc.

Available Investigative Data

Tide and Current Data: Followings are the extract of the Report dated February 2013 for the study Comprehensive Marine EIA for Proposed SPM to Handle Crude Oil and Allied Facilities off Veera in Gulf of Kuchchha prepared by CSIR National Institute of Oceanography. Tides

Tides in this region are semi-diurnal having two high and two low waters in a day. The measured spring tidal range was 6.25m in March 1996 and 6.78m in October 1996, whereas the neap tidal range was 3.9 m in March and 4.1m in October. Measured tides were compared with the predicted tides for Kandla reported in Indian Tide Tables (Figures 5.1.1 and 5.1.2). There was no significant time lag or change in tidal range observed between the measured and predicted tides. The predicted tides for Kandla may be used for the design purpose. The various design tide levels with respect to chart datum are: Mean Mean Mean Mean Mean low water spring + 0.80 low water neap + 1.81 sea level + 3.88 high water neap + 5.71 high water spring + 6.66

Currents Currents were recorded at station 7 during March and October 1996 and presented in the Figures 5.1.3 and 5.1.4. The maximum current speeds observed ranged from 1 to 1.5 m/s. The direction varied between 180 and 360 which shows that the currents were in the north-south direction or it was in the Kandla creek axis. Currents were also recorded at Station 5 during April 2002. Maximum current of 1.0 m/s was observed during this period (Figure 5.1.5). The direction denotes that the currents were in the creek axis. The current data collected at the mouth region during December 2010 denotes that the maximum currents of 1.5 m/s were observed (Figure 5.1.6). The currents only were collected at station 12 during 24th April 2011 and presented in Figure 5.1.7. Maximum current speeds observed were 0.75 m/s and the currents run parallel to the coast. Soil Investigation Data Summary A summary of Geotechnical Appraisal carried out in the report namely Report on Land

Geotechnical Investigation for Creation of Berthing and allied facilities off Tekra near Tuna (Outside Kandla Creek) at Kandla, Kutch (Gujarat) dated August 2011has been presented as follows: Detailed study of the borelogs and field test was carried out. Also the results of laboratory tests on selected soil samples have been analyzed. Based on the bore log data following subsurface profile is inferred at the proposed project site. Layers Layer 1: Grey very soft to soft silty/sandy clay Layer 2: Grey medium stiff to Very stiff silty clay Layer 3: Medium Dense to Dense silty Sand Layer 4: Completely weathered rock Layer 5: Basalt Bedrock Level Below Ground Level 6-10 m 9-20 m at depths between RLs of -9.55m and -13.8m below layer II. 10-12 m 9-12 m
