Maxillary Residual ridges including the full extent of the tuberosities and the hamular notch. Functional depth of the labial & buccal sulci, including frenae & muscle attachments. The hard palate & its junction with soft palate. Mandibular Residual ridge, including the full extent of the retromolar pad area. Functional depth of the labial & buccal sulci, including frenae, muscle attachments, and the external oblique ridge. The lingiual sulci, frenum, myloyioid ridges & the retromylohyoid areas.

It is recommended that the clinician will indicate the extent of the denture bearing area. Also the spacing and the design form of the tray should be indicated on the laboratory form.

Visit 2: Definitive Impression

Clinical Aim: to record the denture-bearing areas, the appropriate degree of tissue displacement, and the functional width and depth of the sulci.

Lab 2

Technicians Aim:

Definitive/Master/2nd impression is cast in stone providing the master cast. The dentist should scribe on the impression the planned position of the post dam, and the planned preservation of the peripheral roll.

Block & relief areas. Production of the baseplates and wax rims.

Mounting. (indexing) Setting the teeth using the shade & mould selected by the dentist. Wax up and contouring.

Visit 5 : Insertion

Mirror those of the trial stage except hopefully the patient is taking the dentures home. Arrange review visits as needed.
