Pastor McCleary, along with the prayer Ministry, is calling for 10


Days of Fasting & Prayer from beginning September 12, 2009 and
ending September 21, 2009. The prayer goals for this church-wide
commitment are for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the
leadership and each member so that we can unite in practicing
effective and fervent prayer lives, which will lead to greater spiritual
power and commitment to service.

L’Elegance Cotillion-Beautillion 2010, sponsored by Emmanuel-


Brinklow SDA Church, is coming very soon. This unique program,
in its 18th year, is designed for SDA high school seniors moving on to
higher education. The Parent/Senior Introductory Meeting will be
held Sunday, September 13, 1-3 PM at Emmanuel-Brinklow SDA
Church. Interested college-bound seniors and parents must attend this

Women’s Day - September 19, 2009. The theme: "Change through a
Renewed Mind". Colors are Lavender and Pink. We will start with
Friday evening vespers at 7:30 pm and continue with Early Morning
Worship service on Sabbath at 8:00 am, Sabbath School at 9:00 am,
and Divine Worship at 11:00 am with guest speaker Dr. Winifred Reid
from Chesapeake, VA. Ladies' Day Luncheon--A catered meal will
be seved. Tickets are $15 and $7 for children 9 and under.
Husbands are welcomed to attend. Tickets can be purchased from
any Women's Ministries committee member.

The Washington Metro Area Women’s Ministries presents the first


annual: Young Women’s Conference 2009, Saturday October 10,
2009 9-5pm. Don’t miss the $55 early registration fee. The fee goes

The Women’s Ministry Presents…Shopping, Show, Dinner: A


Church Fundraiser. Sight and Sound: “In the Beginning” on
October 12, 2009. Departure location is Bladensburg Church at 7am
and the returning time is 9pm. Tickets are as follows: Adults: $125
(19 and up), Teen: $95 (13 to 18), and Child: $80 (3 to 12). Please
contact a member of the Women’s Ministry committee for more

Save the Date - The First Church Family Retreat will be held
October 16-18, 2009. A payment plan has been set up to assist with
the cost to families. The cost is $95/adults and $65/children ages 4-
12. Non-refundable deposits are required to reserve your space; $10

We Believe…
Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, provides salvation and eternal life now. Galatians 2:20;
Hebrews 12:1,2; Philippians 2:5-8; I John 5:11-13.

There is one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. II Corinthians 13:14; I Peter 1:2.

The Bible is the only rule of faith and practice. II Timothy 2:15; II Peter 1:19-21.

The Ten Commandments reveal God's will, sin, and reminds all their need of a savior. Genesis
3:17-19; Romans 5:12-15; Galatians 3:22-24.

The Seventh-day Sabbath, is a binding part of God’s unchanging and perpetual law, and has
been made for our holistic benefit. Exodus 20:8-11; Deutoronomy 5:12-15; Hebrews 4:9-11.

One who is justified by faith, God declares righteous on the ground of Jesus Christ's
substitutionary life and death. Romans 4:3-5; Galatians 3:7-11.

The fruit of the Gospel includes the new birth and progressive sanctification until glorification
at the day of Jesus Christ. John 3:1-7; Acts 2:37, 38; Romans 6:1-6.

God writes His law upon the hearts and minds of believers in Jesus by His Holy Spirit. James
2:10-12; Hebrews 8:7-10; 2 Corinthinians 3:3.

One becomes a member of Jesus’ body, the Church, by faith. I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians
2:13.

Participation in Jesus’ body includes baptism, worship, the Lord's Supper and spiritual gifts.
Ephesians 4:8,11; Matthew 28:18-20; I Corinthians 11:23-29; Hebrews 10:22-25.

The Christian life is a personal relationship with Christ by committing one's self, time, talents,
possessions including (tithe and offerings), health, and influence to God. Malachi 3:8-12;
Matthew 23:23; I Corinthians 3:16, 17; Deuteronomy 14:3-20.

The quality of life in this present world is enhacned by following the principles of health –
proper Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, fresh Air, Rest, and Trust in God. 1
Corinthinans 6:19-20; 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

Believers do not personally appear in judgment because Jesus, the Mediator, presents them as
righteous in Himself. Romans 8:1-4; I John 2:1, 2.

Jesus’ literal, personal, visible, and imminent second coming is our blessed hope for
transitioning from a deterioirating world condition to the pristine purity of God’s glorious earth
made new. Titus 2:13, John 14:1-3.

The dead remain in their grave, unconscious to anything under the sun, until either the
resurection of life or condemnation. Ecclesiates 9:5,6; John 5:28,29; Revelations 20:10.

Believers receive immortality at Christ's return and the wicked eternal death at the Millenniums
end as the new earth becomes the saint's possession forever. John 14:1-3; Daniel 7:18,22,27;
Psalms 37:10, 11, 29: I Thessalonians 4:16, 17; 1.

Seventh-day Adventists are called to announce Christ's return to the world by proclaiming the
Gospel. Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8; Revelations 10:8-11, 14:6-11.
