Preschool Lesson Plans

Week of: October 1 -4 Theme: Farm Themed reading: The Little Red Hen!!!!
8:35-8:50 Arrival 8:50-9:05 Opening Circle

Children put backpacks away, put folders in basket, answer the question of the day, and then find a book on the carpet. Welcome songs- song 2 and 3 on circle time CD Job chart-Students recognize their name cards and pick a job for the day and place it on the job chart. Follow the chart to complete each job. Calendar helper Days of the week-on circle time CD song number 4 Weather helper-student turns weather wheel to correct weather and picks two clothing pieces that are appropriate for the weather. Snack helper-student places food charts on snack chart and tells group what is for snack. Bubble gum counter-student counts gumballs, which match the date and put up number on gumball chart.

Note: Any activities not completed will carry over and be done with the daily lesson.

Go to the cafeteria or playground depending on the weather.

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday MOO, MOO Brown Cow counting game. Click icon on Promethean Planet. Search farm counting. Just like the book, students will count farm animals and demonstrate numeral recognition by picking the correct number for the animals they counted.

9:45-10:00 Daily Lesson

Ms. Sue will bring in a PT Game as the whole group lesson today. Introduce Letter SS using letter box. Each child will
receive a letter stamp and corresponding picture to represent the sound. Send home letter bags for homework.

Art with the OT After reading the Little Red Hen, students will make sheep for this fun art project. Mrs. Bridget will assist the students in name writing and cutting skills for this farm art project. Domain: Writing Topic: Writing Process

Sound sort
Go to school tube icon on computer. Can be found on right hand side. Watch letter s song and give children a letter and picture stamp for the letter S. Using hula hoops and letter cards. Have Children sort objects based on initial letter sounds into the S or A hoop.

Strand: Motor Development Topic: Large Muscle


10:00-11:00 Complete work schedules, free choice center time, snack 11:00-11:15 Closing Circle

Domain:Reading Topic: Phonological Awareness

Students finish individualized work schedules in classroom centers or in workstation. Once student work is completed, children are free to choose play activities in any center.

Note when students take their snack picture off their schedule they will ask a teacher for snack. The table will be set up for the first 6 children, but the additional students will need a teacher to hand the days snack choices.
Students will cleanup when they hear the cleanup song (circle time CD song 8) and transition to the rug to hear a story. Story time: Teacher reads a theme related book. These books are located on wooden book shelf. Goodbye song: Sing the goodbye song (circle time CD song 6)
