With the lapse of time, screens that are packed in kidney shape lose their round form, which will lead to registration problems during printing. For that reason, screens, once unpacked, have to be provided with tensioning rings (of type SCR 77) and be rounded over a period of time. The latter process takes place in the polymerizer. It is very important that the screens are rounded at the right temperature. If the temperature is too low, the screens are not properly rounded, if the temperature is too high, the nickel will recrystallize, causing the screen to become brittle. Consequently, sound temperature control and uniform heat distribution throughout the polymerizer are of the essence. The Stork RSE 3500 Polymerizer more than complies with these demands.

After screens have been coated, exposed and developed, the remaining lacquer must be polymerized. This also applies to screens that are processed on a laser engraver (prior to the engraving). Proper polymerization is essential in order that a stable lacquer coat be obtained. The RSE 3500 Polymerizer is equipped with a system that exhausts the vapours released by the lacquers at the end of the processing cycle. This prevents such vapours from getting into the working environment around the cabinet.
