From the Presbytery

October 2013
Rethink there are ways of thinking, mindsets and paradigms that may need to be improved, upgraded or changed altogether. I am often amazed by positions and mindsets that some may hold on to that continue to hold them back and keep them from flourishing and moving forward. All simply because they refuse to change their thinking and their right to be wrong because of strong feelings or the thats just the way I am position. My question to that is How is that mindset working for you? Rom 12:1-2/ II Cor. 10:4-5 gives us answers to the dilemma or conflicts in our minds. His will trumps our feelings, thoughts and beliefs. Rewind go back to things that were positive in your life. In your mind, rewind to those people, loved ones and relatives that spoke encouraging words into your life. Go back to those moments that gave you confidence and feelings of accomplishment. When you received that award, overcame an adversity or proved to yourself that you could do that thing. We sing songs of moving forward and the best is yet to come, however, we should not push the delete button on the great memories that are part of the fabric that made us the resilient people that we have become. His grace and mercy was with us even before we connected with Him. Now, He works all things for our good, (Rom 8:28). Review take the time to study and examine recent and past events that have occurred in our lives to see if we received the best outcome. Give critical and objective thought, while reviewing, with the goal of becoming a better person for the sake of the Lord, yourself and others that depend on you to be your best. This is a lifelong process which includes checks & balances, standards, convictions and accountability. Search yourself along with the aid of the Spirit, (Psalm 139:23-24). Revive - I admit I struggle with the use of this word in the Church world context because one aspect of revive is to bring back to life, implying that a death has occurred. In 19 years of church ministry we have yet to have a Revival Meeting. Revive in this context means to restore from a depressed or inactive state. Get moving again. We are not dead. We are alive in Christ. If we need repairing, adjusting and mending lets get what we need to be revived. Christ came to free us and give us His abundant life, (Psalm 51:10/John 10:10).

Praise the Lord LCC Family, Partners and Friends!

We are midway through our Sabbatical time in which we were instructed to enter into for the improvement and wellness of this local body individually and corporately. Our partners and friends were also welcomed to journey with us. We were initially given six Rs that would help us to revitalize and given direction on how to incorporate each area: Refresh, Reflect, and Renewal, Reconnect, Refocus and Rejuvenate. (Ref. Entering our Sabbath, ATLF, Message preached, June 9, 2013)

I am adding four additional Rs to assist us in the second half of our Sabbatical wellness journey!

A heartfelt thanks to all LCC family members, partners and friends for your time, talent, treasure and prayers.

lions goodbye. Because just like most of the people who win the 'big one' without considering and planning and wise strategy included...we (like them) will be broke in a matter of years.

that because a person was faithful over a few things, he was made a ruler over many more. This is about us being faithful with what we DO have, more than us just waiting on the money to fall in our laps from the sky. So I have resolved that whether money comes or goes, I want to be a faithful steward over what I do have. There is a promise and reward in that if I am faithful in anything I do, that I will be a ruler (or have authority, power, A CREDIBLE VOICE) in that very area of responsibility. What about YOU? -Min. Powerball

For most of us...we will never win the Powerball in our lifetime. Heck, most of us wont even know a person who knows the person who won the Powerball in our lifetime. But even if we did win...it would be a lot of money, early retirement, lots of vacationing, every single bill paid out, no more credit woes, and no worries, right? Well, if we still carry around a 'poverty' mentality...-always waiting on a hand out while disregarding the reward of hard work and responsibility-always thinking that someone owes us something for breathing-always mismanaging the 'under $100K' money that most of us handle right now (where did my money go?)- making impulse buys based on emotion instead of quality purchases-no budgeting... Well...we can kiss all those mil-

Checkmate. Poverty is a state of mind (not just a state of being) that manifests itself through various outlets. You could have poverty in your communication, relationships, understanding, etc. It may include money, but is not limited to a monetary status. Point is...how are we living now that makes us deserve to have that much loot? How are we making the world better right now without it all? I must admit, I would absolutely welcome all of that money into my life.
