English with Mindset Coaching

Background:

People who speak English in the community that does not use English around
will feel awkward, shy or discourage by the responds gained. Some people
even think that someone who speaks English with them is arrogant. It is
important to reduce that kind of feeling to keep the motivation in learning
English.

Program Description:

English Mindset Coaching Program is a set of activities conducted on a

module of assignments to change the feeling of participants as if to be in an
English speaking society through artificial ways. Several selected activities
are designed to put English atmosphere mindset in their mind. The program
duration is 3 months/12 meeting sessions. It is a group of 8 students.
Participants are needed to spare at least 2 hours per week for the program.
For example: Every Saturday from 1 PM until 3 PM. This program is not
designed to teach English but to improve motivation owned by participants
by learning it on various ways.

Requirements:

• Participant need to know the basic of English grammar and basic

English vocabularies
• Participants need to know some question phrases to ask for translation
such as:
• “How do you say it in English?”, “What does it mean?”, “Please
paraphrase it! I don’t understand.”What should I say If I want to do
something.” and so on.
• Participants need to prepare a book note and a pen
• Participants need to willingly spare 2 hours a week and 30-60 minutes
to do self learning assignments and follow all rules for the program
success.
• Participants need to spare Rp1000 once a week for publication and
material. Additional fees are applied for additional activities and
transportation.

✔ Participants will have more confidence in speaking English wherever
they are
✔ Participants will have an English community to keep their spirit in
Learning English
✔ Participants will love English more than ever

Alternative Activities Set Planned:

1. Doing an English ability pre-test and filling motivation questionnaires

2. Speaking English on every single session time (95% English and 5 %
Indonesian)
3. Future planning awareness
4. Why we learn English. Problem and solution discussion/sharing
5. Blog/website 2.0 making tutorial
6. Making a blog for personal online journal and writing on the blog that
has been made
7. Writing a daily activities diary on a book.
8. Simulation game: “How it feels to be in the United States.”
9. Having interview with English Native Speakers
10.Having interview with English lectures
11. Having interview with people on Facebook/MIRC/YM and get the
chatting transcript
12. Doing telephone calling via Skype/Yahoo Messenger (using English of
course)
13. Getting some information about something from sources already
determined from people/Internet/Library
14.Visiting English Environment
15. Having English Debate
16. Outdoor Working group in an Educational atmosphere for example:
UKSW’s library
17. Daily life sharing in miscellaneous methods of speaking game.
18.Playing Scrabble
19.Having daily conversation partner to chat with
20.Making a transcript or summary from a video media format
21.Poem analysis
22.Listening to English music
23.Getting information from English Radio Program
24.Making a video (acting like a singer for an English song)

 25.English speech/presentation delivery
26. Making an English drama (to be recorded as a movie)
27. Many other possible activities ideas appeared along the program
28.A simple trip to an interesting place and using English along the way

students.
