the
Advantages of E-
journal
 Available before the printed version is received,
because articles are loaded as soon as they have
been peer-reviewed and before ‘publication date’
 Can be found out through Voyager Library
Catalogue for availability of the electronic version
 Some documents are more useful in electronic
form due to enhanced search ability, e.g. in
allowing statistical calculations to be affected.
 Many sites include added-value features, such as
links to related articles links to related information
on other web sites
 Stable URLs for individual articles
 Email alerts when latest issue is loaded
Disadvantages
 Archiving and site licenses. Most of the e-

Open access journals
 Open Access Journals are journals that use a
funding model which does not charge readers or

Conclusion
Library is the place where the information is
collected, organized and provided to the “need
users”. Librarians are performing multiple tasks by
wearing different hats; this is due to restructuring of
Librarian’s job influenced by revolution in the
electronics information media. In recent days
Electronic resources are playing a vital role in
dissemination of Information. Many librarians are
considered leaders in the field of Electronic licensing
and in working with vendors to implement electronic
journals. Electronic publishing resources are
continuously growing and the Librarian’s job will
become more challenging and rewarding.
