NAME SCHOOL SUBJECT FORM NUMBER OF STUDENTS DATE OF LESSON TIME TITLE OF LESSON UNIT 1.

1 UNDERSTANDING WAVE

a) Learning Objective : Understanding wave b) Learning Outcomes By the end of the lesson, students should be able to write and explain spontaneously about: Wave motion and waves transfer energy without transferring matter. Comparation of transverse and longitudinal waves. Wave front and its relation with the direction of propagation of waves. Amplitude, period, frequency, wavelength and wave speed. The relationship between speed, wavelength and frequency. Solve problems involving speed, wavelength and frequency. Damping and resonance in an oscillating system.

and, student should be able to sketch and interpret spontaneously: Displacement-time graph for a wave. Displacement-distance graph for a wave. c) Prior Knowledge In previous chapter, they already learned on how to sketch the axis of displacement-time graph of an object for its velocity and acceleration. d) Material Worksheet , Handouts, Mahjong paper, Marker Pen, White Board, Text Book ICT (Laptop, Projektor, LCD, video, flash) Preparing MS PowerPoint used for teaching and groups activity Some pictures (Natural phenomona which relates to wave) Websites (Effect of resonance) e) Noble Values Being Cooperative Being Objective

Set Induction Time Allocation Teachers Activity 1. Teacher asks the student on what they see when a few drops of water fall onto the surface of the water. 2. Again, the teacher asks the student the waves produced based on their logic thinking. 3. Teacher tries to clarify the situation with showing some pictures of wave. Students Activity 1. Students answer the question been asked (water waves being formed). 2. Students answer the questions based on logic thinking. 3. Students pay attention on the teachers explaination. Teaching Materials/ Notes Teaching Aids: 1. Pictures Brainstorming: 1. Teacher asks students questions on how can they get the answers (logic thinking).

Content (Development) Time Allocation Teachers Activity 1. Teacher asks the student to open their text book and randomly pick one student to read the definition of wave. 2. Teacher explain again the definition to make it clear and student easily to understand the meaning. 3. Teacher shows a video regarding to formation of a wave. 4. Teacher asks student on what they seen from the video displayed. 5. If the none of the students can answer the question, the teacher should apply retention method to lead students to catch the idea. 6. The teacher shows the two types of wave and its characteristic using the MS powerpoint with the flash. Students Activity 1. Students are highlighting some important points from the definition. 2. Students watch the video shown. 3. Make some notes from the video they have seen and answering the question been asked. 4. Student that selected to do the demonstration come in front and do it on the white board with teachers guide. 5. Do mind-mapping for the two types of wave and its characteristic. Teaching Materials/ Notes Teaching Aids: 1. ICT 2. Text Book 3. MS powerpoint 4. Handouts Strategies: 1. Attention Focusing Questions. (What have you seen...?) 2. Recognize/ Analyze from the figures/ video shown.

7. Teacher teachs the students about the graphs for wave motion.

8. The teacher take one picture of graphs of wave motion. 9. With the aid of the figure, the teacher shows and explain to student the positon of amplitude, period, frequency and wavelength. 10. Then, the teacher shows the relation of the wavelength and frequency of a wave which lead to gain the speed of a wave. 11. Next, the teacher will doing demonstration on how to draw/ sketch a graph of wave motion with given information of amplitude, period, frequency and wavelength on the white board. 12. During the demonstration, students may ask some questions. This is good for two way communication between the teacher and the students. 13. Teacher providing some information of amplitude, period, frequency and wavelength for the next example. 14. The teacher will randomly pick out the student to repeat on how to sketch a graph of wave motion as the teacher shows before.

15. The teacher will gives some help to correct their mistakes during the sketching as it may helps student enhance their understanding and skills in sketching. 16. Teacher display website page related to wave phenomena which is damping and resonance.

Evaluation Time Allocation Teachers Activity 1. Teacher dividing students into 4-5 groups. the Students Activity 1. Every group send their representative for the group work presentation. 2. Pay attention on what teacher tries to explain. 3. Give some applause for their hardwork after finish presenting. 4. Students watch screen that shows the correct answers and try to compare their answer. Teaching Materials/ Notes Teaching Aids: 1. Mahjong paper, Marker pen 2. MS powerpoint 3. Worksheet Strategies: 1. Teacher as a facilitator during the group discussion (constructivist apporach) 2. Teachers evaluation : Evaluate by observing and ask the students question(s) randomly and spontaneously. 3. Peers evaluation : Students will evaluate their peer by living marks to other groups in group activity.

2. Teacher giving each group a set of question. Each group will have same question and 7 minutes given to answer the question. 3. Teacher will ask every group (representative) to present their finding in front of the class. 4. During the presentation, teacher checks the answer and will make some correction if there is any mistake made. 5. Teacher shows the correct answer on the screen and gives mark based on their answer. 6. Teacher tries to compare answer from each group and gives credits to every group on their effort to answer the question. 7. The teacher asks the students back to their original place.

Closure Time Allocation Teachers Activity 1. The teacher conclude on what they have learned today. 2. Teacher comes to the earlier situation (set induction) about the water drops onto the ponds. 3. Teacher randomly pick out a student and explain the formation of wave based on what they learned. 4. Again, the teacher asks the students the on what they learned today about the characteristic of a wave, about graph of wave motion and natural phenomena of wave (resonance and damping). 5. Students are given individual exercises as their homework. Students Activity 1. Students answering the questions. Teaching Materials/ Notes Teaching Aids: 1. Worksheet (Homework)

Reflection/ Notes : 1. The teaching methods is more to contextual learning. Its focus on educators tries to relate daily life and experience as possible, allowing students to test academic theories through real-world applications. 2. Is the objectives of this topic achieved? 3. Is the strategy need some improvement to increase the students understanding ? In the future? 4. Depending on teachers evaluation and peers evaluation in the classroom. Is it enough to measure the level of understanding of the student in this topic? Do I have to do pre-test for the students? 5. The content teached in this topic is something new to the students. Some students may facing difficulty to understand on some the terms used. This is due to the level of vocabulary the students have. 6. In order to overcome this problem, the students would have to memorise those terms through repetitions. Students can take alternative ways such as display them on index cards and paste them on the strategic place (wall).Another ways is doing a lot of exercises related to the topic teached.
