Medical Officer
Jamiyat Hospital, Karachi is a large hospital with maternity home facilities and well quipped round the clock ED and
ICU. In my capacity as a medical officer I managed outpatients under the supervision of my seniors. The patient
cases included prevalent medical conditions varying from pediatrics to geriatric and gynecologic cases. I had the
opportunity to perform phlebotomy, urinary catheterization, N G tube insertion, lumbar puncture and peritoneal tap.

Internship
I worked as an intern in the Department of Medicine at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi, a tertiary care
hospital in the most densely populated metropolitan city of the country. As an intern I took active part in the
academic activities such as floor rounds, case discussions, attending seminars, morning clinical meetings, and
participating in the management of inpatients and outpatients. I also rotated through the Department of
Radiotherapy for three months where I was exposed to radiation therapy as a treatment modality for cancer
patients.
Following the medical portion of my internship I was an intern in the Department of Surgery. During this time I
participated in various plastic and reconstructive surgeries apart from participating in the management of
inpatients and outpatients. I had the opportunity to partake in various cases such as burn victims and skin cancers
and was able to follow them throughout their hospital course. I had the chance to observe the procedure for CVP
line.

Internship
After graduating in May 2004 I started internship in the Department of Psychological Medicine (Psychiatry) at Dow
Medical College and Civil Hospital, Karachi. I participated in ward rounds, clinical meetings, case presentations and
seminars during my time in this department. I worked under the supervision of well-known psychiatrists in the
country and had the opportunity to assess acute and chronic psychiatric problems as well as cases of drug abuse.
Additionally, I assisted my attending during Electroconvulsive Therapy.
