1. Township government - the oldest and most basic form of government in Ohio- must be open and responsive to its residents and must strive to serve the best interests of the community. Therefore, I would like to: (a) expand the Township's web site to include more financial information; and (b) evaluate residents' interest in changing the days and/or times of the Trustee meetings to increase attendance and improve the lines of communication between the Trustees and residents. 2. In accordance with the Township's Comprehensive Plan, a guideline for future land use, we should continue to protect the Township's semi-rural atmosphere, green space and lakefront while encouraging business expansion on the Route 20 corridor. Seeking Community Development Block Grants and working with business owners to re-purpose structures before building new ones would also help to maintain our semi-rural character. 3. To stabilize and increase the tax base, my suggestion is to form a sub-committee to create a dialogue between the business community, consumers and local government. The sub-committee, consisting of business owners and residents, would identify both the pros and cons of the Township's business environment; thereafter presenting those findings to the Trustees and Zoning Board for further resolution. All "stakeholders" would benefit as: (a) business owners would develop a better working relationship with the Township, (b) consumers would benefit as new and different businesses and jobs are brought into the community, and (c) the Township would would benefit by expanding the tax base.

I am asking the voters of Painesville Township, Fairport Harbor and Grand River for their votes because I have the experience, education and leadership necessary to serve as Trustee. I have prepared myself by attending the Trustee meetings, by being involved in the community as an Election Precinct Official and by serving on the Lake County Land Bank Board of Directors. I believe that I have the most well rounded background of all the candidates. As an Urban Studies graduate, I am proud of my role with the non-profit Land Bank and our mission to reduce blight, stabilize home prices and return properties back to the tax base - at no additional cost to taxpayers. As a paralegal/NCO in the Army, I traveled extensively throughout the eastern portion of the United States and as far away as Germany. Being away from home gave me a greater appreciation of what this area has to offer, in addition to a different perspective of what makes a community work. I am extremely proud to have served our country and our community and I hope that the voters will review my qualifications and elect me to serve as their Trustee. Thank you for this opportunity. Beth
