PHASE 1 RENOVATION OF THE CHURCH ONGOING ith the unified action of church members and the help of Engineer

John Y. Pasana, who has voluntarily extended his skills and professional services, the changes in the physical layout of our church is now clearly depicted as inspired and taken from the context of the Haggai 1:14 (.. and the spirit of all the remnants of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God)
Phase 1 renovations will revolve around work on providing a section for the choir as well as reconstruction of the Music room and incorporation of special toilet for senior citizen members. Restoration of the kitchen and building of a conference room and Pastoral room will take place on the ground floor. Improvement of ventilation remains to be a key factor in all of the restorative work to be done as the church structure is now being surrounded with towering establishments and if not executed well can result to poor air movement inside the worship area. We are eternally grateful for all those who continue to be handmaids and servants of the Lord in all their shared efforts, from providing much-needed financial assistance to support this cause, down to performing voluntary cleaning labor during the weekend to prepare our church on worship day. Constructions on the second floor are expected to be completed on October 28 in time for our church anniversary Sunday.

Music Ministry: A Purpose Driven Ministry

Music is able to communicate what simple words cannot. The UCCP-Kundiman Music Ministry continuously aims to touch peoples lives, and share the beautiful message of Gods love through our praise & worship band, choir, and Angklung Ensemble. The past year hasnt been any different. It was during the Sacrificial Dinner held last November 10 and December 8, 2012 that the music ministry was able to contribute greatly to the church. The activity aimed to raise funds for the church renovation. It showcased performances from the UCCP-Kundiman Choir, the Angklung Ensemble, the Lyco Band, and some quartet, duet, and solo performances. The Angklung Ensemble continues to spread the love of God through music through caroling during the Christmas season, visiting church friends, and participating in Conference wide activities. Last July 19, 2013 the Angklung Ensemble was also invited to perform at the Jubilee Concert of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines, entitled Salmong Paglaya at Pag-ibig in celebration of NCCPs 50th Anniversary. On Sundays, the UCCP-Kundiman Choir sings the anthem while the Angklung Ensemble plays the introit and extroit every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. The Lycoband leads the congregation in community singing as a preparation for the morning worship service. To continuously harness our skills in the field of music, the Music Ministry held a 3-day music workshop last July 25-27, 2013. In this workshop, the participants were taught what music is all about, the essence of the music in worship, how to read notes and some voice lessons. Above all, to deepen the members faith, the choir holds a devotion before practices. The Music Ministry continues to grow in faith and talents aiming to serve God and proclaim His Word through music.

FAITH

By Rev. Jackson Bacabac While watering the orchids and other ornamental plants, I noticed that the foliage is withering. The orchids that used to bear brightly colored flowers with unusual shapes are now standing in front of me seemed to be but an ordinary grass. Oh Yes. Ive been very busy these past few days. Watering them has been the least of my priorities. When was the last time I dug the earth? Days? Weeks? Months? Year ago? I could not recall. I could no longer remember the last time I sprinkled fertilizer on them. When was the last time I attended to my flora? I was reminded of the parable of our Lord Jesus Christ in the book of Matthew 13:1-23. I see it from the perspective of a gardener. I realize that a gardener does not rely solely on the kind of soil he grows the plant; he has to attend to them. His obligation does not conclude at simply planting them, it is an act to commence instead. Likewise, to grow spiritually, we must genuinely rely on Jesus; having daily spiritual unions with Him is imperative. Faith should be attended to. We need to read and study the Bible, devote ourselves to quiet time with God. Fellowship with brothers and sisters are vital. Applying what He has taught us should be a part of our growth. We are mandated to do good things, not to be saved but as a manifestation and act of our faith (James 2:17). More than anything in these troubled times and the challenges of the new realities, Christians are called to stand firm in faith, let the Holy Spirit and His Words strengthen us, act with courage, and to do everything in love.

The Good and Faithful Servant of God

By Teresita Zerrudo

Faith is the strong belief in the Power of God Mama Pil lives on it all the days of her whole life. She became a widow after 13 years of married life. She struggled hard to raise her five little children as an educator until they finished their professional education. She endeared herself in church activities to strengthen her faith and trust in the Almighty. Mama Pil is now 92. She lives her exemplary life from the love of God who guides the destiny of mankind. She is a very reserved woman; she has been suffering from some physical weakness and other health problems. No one realized her problems for she kept them all to herself. We noticed though that she looked tired and haggard. We never thought she was a victim of kidney problems and hypertension. From then on she became very ill; she was in and out of the hospital several times. She faced her sickness with courage and bravery. Although the pain suffered her so much. She endured all these sufferings silently. She does not complain. She has no regrets. She accepts everything in silence, trusting in the everlasting arms of Jesus. I am so grateful to God that she is still alive. Her smiling face still beams with joy to greet people who come to meet her. She can best be described as the victorious woman in Proverbs 31.
1. She is a devout Christian who followed the Lords teachings religiously. She observed Sunday and kept it holy. 2. She has a very strong faith and deep trust in the Lord. 3. She is completely devoted to the family. 4. She is a devoted wife, a caring and wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. 5. She managed the home frugality and thrift. 6. She is mentally alert.
